![]() I think CTR was a 3 door now a 5 door.
So ITR that was a 3 door now a 5 door isn't too out of the norm? Integra's were also sold as 4 door sedans at one point (that was a while ago) so I guess not too odd? |

![]() Slap a Type R badge on an Accord like the good ol days. Nothing about Honda is odd. Or surprising.

![]() Not sure if serious, but Euro-R is different than a Type-R, if I'm not mistaken..

![]() Right, Honda's slapping Type R badges on things that were traditionally not Type R cars. Like the good ol day.

Yes, CTRs come with a hefty markup; my friend was the VP of sales and I still paid a $4k markup for a Championship White one - there was 0 negotiating room and a line behind me. ![]() The CTR, has to be one of the best cars I've ever driven, out of the box; I know a lot of people have reservations about FWD, but drive a CTR and tell me you still feel like you're driving an early '00s Civic. ADM isn't going to leave the CTR any time soon, people are still buying them left and right. |

![]() I was really interested in a Type R as manual and even offered some at discounts.
But everyone I ask who had one and sold it complained about the Front wheel drive experience. So I'm waiting for type S Acura or STI , discounted Supra or whatever comes next |

My issues with FWD are primarily related to POWER DELIVERY and how that applies to my DAILY DRIVEN vehicle. acceleration from a dig acceleration on broken pavement acceleration in the cold acceleration in rain acceleration in snow acceleration going uphill acceleration while turning any combination of the above You're asking the front tires on a FWD car to handle the brunt of the duties, where as in a RWD or AWD car those duties are spread out better. Physics is not on your side in a FWD car. I run into traction issues in a 137hp FWD car, it's only going to get worse in something with over 300hp. I wouldn't buy a CTR to track it, if I were buying a track only car it would be as mechanical/driver controlled as possible, I care more about improving my driver skill & lap times than I care about posting a fast lap time out of the box; no nannies, on a track car I don't even want ABS, let alone VSC, TC, and all the other garbage modern cars come with that just add weight, complexity and additional layers of fluff between me and the car/track. Any modern car I buy in the foreseeable future is going to be a daily driver and year round driver (New England winters). To the CTR, my main specific issues outside of FWD are: 1) MSRP - 37k is a big ask for a civic in my mind, I know it's a bespoke civic, but I feel the same way about a 65k EJ STi 2) Curb weight (admittedly I drive a 3,600lb luxo-barge, but it's also RWD, V6 w/8spd auto, it should be heavier than a FWD transverse job, that and the badges are heavy, and so are the ventilated power seats) 3) 20" wheels wrapped in 30 series tires from the factory 4) styling that can't be fixed by the aftermarket 5) transaxle grind issues that still haven't been fixed Paper racing is a waste of time for me, so once all of that garbage is negated, the positive points are far outweighed by the negative points. |

![]() After several AWD and RWD vehicles I jumped into a Focus ST. I actually liked the way the car steered and handled but after 6 months I got major AWD/RWD envy and couldn't get out of it fast enough and it's not because I didn't like the car and more that feeling aking to settling for ground beef after being used to being served porterhouse steaks. When you own a RWD or AWD vehicle there is never, ever a time where you wish you had FWD but when you have FWD it's inescapable that there will be moments when you will lament settling for what is a compromised layout.
That said I did have money down on a CTR and was a week away from being an owner but one drive of an M2 and I knew the first time I spun my front wheels on the street in the Honda the remorse would begin and I would in time turn around and sell it. If you are a person that mostly have driven FWD or Hondas you will love the Type R but there's a reason a lot of owners have moved on quickly from them and it's not because it's a bad car. |

I too have never wished I had a FWD car. My scooter just happens to be FWD.. |

![]() Every car is a trade-off - so I think it depends on which tradeoff you're willing to accept, and which type of roads you're going to be driving on. I haven't driven a Type R since the ITR days, but that car was an incredible experience. FWD doesn't bother me but the engine sound on the new Type R is a bit of a turnoff, since that was half the fun of the old one, the screaming F1 noises coming from the under the hood.

Even my little Civic hatch is 500 lbs lighter than the 330i ZHP it replaced, and that gives it a lightness and dartiness that is fun. I drove a new 435i M Sport a few years ago and it was boring, just too heavy to be any fun. |

![]() You can't overstate how tame the engine of the current CTR sounds. I was shocked the first time I heard it. There's never been a car where looks matched sound more poorly than the CTR.
I'm over my modding days, but I'd stick an exhaust on a CTR the second I bought it if I had one. |
