Cadillac LYRIQ Teased Before August 6th Reveal

The Cadillac LYRIQ crossover will usher in GM’s vision of its electrical future.
This will be Cadillac’s first fully-electric vehicle.

These are the first official images of the LYRIQ from Cadillac.

These few images shared by Cadillac certainly are teasers as they reveal very little. What we do know is that the XT5-sized crossover will not only represent the first EV in a line of many for Cadillac, but that its craftmanship will be inspiring.


Initially, the Cadillac LYRIQ was meant to be introduced at the beginning of 2020 but the delay will have served a purpose and built anticipation. This critical introduction for GM will launch the American carmaker into the future and open the floodgates to numerous new electric vehicles.

Cadillac Lyriq EV Will Get Massive 33-Inch Interior Screen
The main picture is the sole hint we get at Cadillac’s new design language. The only comment that can be made is that the charge-port access door looks quite dramatic. A large panel seems to slide to the side and reveal the illuminated port. The only other clear elements are the wheels. The multi-spoke aero-blade-like design is sporty and very premium at once.



GM introduced its new Ultium battery technology earlier this year and the Cadillac LYRIQ will be first to be powered by them.

The official virtual reveal will take place on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at 7 p.m. ET.

nothing wrong with a big family guys. I have two kids a dog and a cat, and at some point I am sure I will face the ire of the people on NASIOC who will label me a breeder. Not that I care. Mormons never did a single thing to me. To each their own. I have nothing against Amish or any other religion. Live and let live and all that. Having that out of the way, I kind of do like that GMC.

We use to have an 8 passenger vehicle that we used to almost capacity weekly

I was born in Morocco where this is also true. The most egregious example that I knew personally had 3 wives and 19 children in ~1985.

My parents are from SE Asia and while we can't relate on the multiple wives thing, its not uncommon for families in my parents' country to also have a **** ton of kids. My mom is 1 of 8 (or 9, I forget) and a lot of our extended family is also like that.

Here I am deciding if I even want 1 kid or not

2023 Cadillac Lyriq Grille Features 50 LEDs, Welcome Signature: Video

Cadillac puts on quite a light show with the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, welcoming the driver upon approach with a choreographed, animated sequence of 50 LEDs. It highlights the all-electric nature of its new flagship crossover.


As the driver walks up to the Lyriq, the approach is signaled by two light dots shooting up the vertical side daytime running lights as a precursor to the main show.
It starts with Cadillac’s new monochromatic crest sequentially lighting up – with the Lyriq being the first Caddy to have it illuminated. This is followed by lines at the bottom of the grille that light up in succession from the center and out to the outside and then up to the top. Lights then go across the very thin turn signals just under the hood line and cascade back down into the daytime running lights as they fill up from the top as dots that blend into a solid stripe. This climaxes with the row of vertical LED headlights next to it that visually “drop in” from bottom to top till all nine beams are lit.


In the automaker’s reveal video of the new Lyriq, Cadillac Chief Designer Andrew Smith describes it as a “complex animation pattern.”
It’s all part of a light show that is the new Cadillac Lyriq. Lights are pushed to the outside, fill in the grille, and then back down, and on to the back in the taillights. The show continues inside with unique lighting on the doors and a vertical line treatment on the unique 33-inch horizontal, curved, advanced LED screen that echoes that of the grille.
The grille, of course, is actually not one at all since the Lyriq is an EV. In fact, it houses multiple radar sensors behind it for GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving technology. The automaker calls the grille an “illuminated Black Crystal Shield” with an “innovative finishing technique that utilizes three-dimensional texturing for dramatic depth and detail.”


The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq represents the first model year of the upcoming electric crossover while also being the brand’s first all-electric vehicle. As such, the Lyriq ushers in a new era in luxury, technology, and electrification. The vehicle is built on the GM BEV3 platform using GM Ultium batteries and Ultium Drive motors.
The Lyriq is also the first vehicle to flaunt the brand’s next-generation styling, offering signature vertical lighting along with Cadillac’s distinctive black crystal grille. Featuring a profile reminiscent of a shooting brake, the all-electric crossover is slightly larger than the current Cadillac XT5.


Inside, the Cadillac Lyriq’s interior is clean and simple with a focus on secondary and tertiary design elements, including intricate laser etched patterns through wood over metal decor. It comes very well equipped, including front massaging seats, a new Surround Vision Recorder, and GM’s Super Cruise. The 33-inch screen features a unique Human-Machine Interface (HMI) designed using software from Altia to provide a readouts for instrumentation and infotainment, navigation, and various onboard controls.


Other highlights of the Cadillac Lyriq include Cadillac’s next-generation Active Noise Cancellation system and an AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system with speakers within headrests, a new dual-plane augmented reality-enhanced head-up display, and supervised remote parking.


Pricing for the new, all-electric, rear-wheel-drive 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition starts at $59,990 in the U.S., including destination freight charge, and production is set to begin at the GM Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennessee in early 2022. Cadillac started accepting reservations on September 18th at 4 pm EST and the initial Debut Edition sold out just a few minutes thereafter.
