![]() So many ridges, so many lines, so much plastic, it's excessive on a road car. Race car different story, but even then nothing is smooth or flowing.

![]() So the only way to make the current WRX good looking is to replace every single body panel on the car with another completely different body panel.
Check, got it. Way to go Subaru. Thanks for showing us what the car could have looked like, if you gave a ****. |

![]() that would be too late of a reintroduction. A wrx ts is needed to fill the gap the STI has left behind. It is a travesty that the Golf R and Civic type R are still here to compete with the corolla GR, and we have nothing remotely competitive with the three out of the box. All three are hatches, all three have around 300hp or more. We had that in the STI and were forced to drop it. We have the solterra and are waiting to see if there will be a plug-in hybrid for the 2024 crosstrek. Until we can get around emissions, a wrx ts is as close as we get to an STI. Subaru is looking to add more hybrid models to our existing lineup. Maybe they can bring the STI sooner, rather later

![]() Yup, Subaru needs more hybrids in the line-up before theyre cleared for the STI (Seems like). All they need to do is drop a Hybrid Impreza or Forester Engine Option. Though, its obvious its not that simple. Subaru is still bogged down by supply chain, as prevalent by the updated accessory list on the WRX (Same with other models like the Legacy/Outback - I know that doesn't directly compare), but the accessory list is still bare-boned, and the backorders for Forester, Ascent, and Legacy Accessories are still piled up. No optional Brake options, No change to the Model itself for 2023. Enough to tell me theyre still somewhat on the same implemented-planned timeline for keeping up current supply numbers without having to re-negotiate for different imported car numbers with the Federal Gov't - Which would involve re-evaluation of the vehicle as a whole for any little part list change.

The 2022 STI was in full production guise to USDM spec in Japan before the WRX was even revealed to us. Employees saw the car in person, on a few different occasions. I believe you are correct - they just need to sell enough of those scam EVs to avoid the financial penalty that would be affixed to releasing the STI. I think a STI on this generation would look great (as I was told it did) especially since Subaru can tweak with the current design. Painted fender, slimmer rear bumper, GOLD BBS and a wing with some STI stitched interior bucks would look good. I really like the new front end of these cars.. |

![]() The problem is Subaru emissions across the board. Not STI emissions.

![]() Not really emissions.. it's fuel economy.
CAFE's area (wheelbase x track width) component of the equation (which gives larger vehicles a wider margin of fuel economy) screwed over Porsche and Subaru the most when it launched. Engines overhanging axles were not considered when congress debated and drew up the rules for CAFE. After all, the real reason for writing the rules the way they did was to protect the domestic car and truck markets, and the Corvair was long gone. On the plus side, it forced Ford to push the Mustang's front axle out from behind the V8.. on the negative, Subaru needed to Light-Truck-all-the-things just to get by. People often wonder why cars grow in wheelbase and width every generation.. this is why... because they can't meet CAFE with the smaller footprint by increasing engine efficiency every generation. It's why North America gets a Fiat 500 with a 90.6" wheelbase, while the Fiat 500 sold in Europe has a 76.4" wheelbase. It's why the Type R is in a sedan and not a tiny hatch.. it's why we don't get any of the tiny hatches in the US anymore and MINIs are all available as gargantuan 5 doors. |

Never thought about CAFE requirements being dimensional (besides big trunks good, efficient cars bad). |
