![]() Ugh... I changed the oil yesterday (4 quarts) with rotella t6. Now it seems there's oil getting into the cylinders as I'm burning oil (out the exhaust, not burning off engine). I read this can happen if the oil is overfilled but factory specs require over 4 quarts so I know I haven't overfilled it. Everything runs fine otherwise - new plugs, wires, o2 sensors were changed last week with no issues.
I know the oil seals around the valve covers were a little most with oil but it shouldn't be getting past the plugs. Any ideas?

![]() Go with t5 until it starts getting colder. I tried the same thing (t6) and what your describing was happening too, blowing blue smoke everywhere. I thought it was rings but the motor was only rebuilt 10k ago.... So my buddy suggested t5 and the blue smoke went away. That's just my experience, not a diagnosis haha

![]() Lightweight flywheels are fine for Subarus, it's having both at the same time that causes drivability issues. I have a ACT streetlite flywheel and love it. I've never had an issue with t6 oil in any of my motors, sounds like a bad valve seal. Leakdown test should tell you more.

![]() Weird - after changing to T5 it stopped. It never smoked before this either. Maybe when you have nothing else to do you can show me how to do a leakdown test. Because you're never busy, right USLiberty? Haha. Did you go back to EL headers?

![]() The full synthetics are lighter and do exaggerate the smallest leaks. I'm not sure I would go from full synthetic to a blend but I really dont know. I don't have a leakdown tester but it jist goes in the spark plug hole and use a compressor. I never had equal length headers, just ported manifolds, grimspeed crossover and uppipe. It will sound much different in a couple weeks. I have a Tial 44mm external wastegate and GT30R .63ar turbo. It will be getting a custom rotated mount adaptor feeding the EWG back into the downpipe. It's big, but I have plans for my spare block. The heat and elevation is dragging the little vf10

![]() Who wants a free set of Kartboy front endlinks from my 04 Forester? The bushings are shot so you'll have to spend $60 on those. The end links are 9 years old but free is free!

![]() Adam, I believe you'd need to get 96-02 outback struts to get any lift. There are spacers available as well, that go on top of the strut. Look at the second post on this thread for more info:

Glad to hear you got it running again. I'm thinking of taking mine for a cruise this weekend, before she gets some major bolt-ons. Last edited by USLiberty; 07-29-2015 at 11:04 PM. |

![]() Ah yes! They are my dad's stock Rexxy rims, they have horrible "camber wear" from my dad rolling the tires on every corner on the Jerome road :O The rest of the tread is good though, I am sure he would be willing to sell those.
Although we do have an extra set for spares, good tread although it is up to the family if they want to give them up :P Anyways, you all should be seeing the Poobaru driving on the streets again! Nothing like a little rtv to temporarily fix a crack in the power steering hose ![]() We should all have a Friday night meet up for Nate! It would be awesome seeing the whole Subaru group again anyways. |
