![]() We thought that we would start a new thread for our Steam Turbochargers. There has been quite a bit of positive feedback from our customers and we want to provide a place where people can come to get an idea of the performance people are getting from the Steam STX 67, STX 71, or the STX 20G-R.
Post everything you have here: dyno plots, build specifics, etc. Don't be shy. There is lots to share and lots to learn. Perhaps your posting will help someone else or lead to tips from others! You don't need to be producing over 500whp to post here. Some will be interested more in spool characteristics than they will top end power. Others will want to see that peak power. Bring it all. Specifically, be sure to post the following: Turbo model, dyno plot, supporting mods, etc. With the variety that is out there, this is sure to be interesting.

![]() How many of these turbo's are out there? Only 3 results so far?
I think getting it into a list format like this will be useful for comparisons: Quote:

![]() It would be appreciated if you guys could follow the standard PPB format outlined in the link below. Results are more useful if all the background information is available.

![]() Hi NASIOC,
We finished building our JB STX 76 prototype. It is designed to satisfy those trying to hit the 450-500 whp with a stock location turbo. It is based off of a GTX3076R compressor wheel with a TD06SL2 9-blade turbine. We designed a new compressor 3" anti-surge housing that is compact enough to really be stock location. Here is the GTX3076R compressor map. FYI: with the JB center vs the BB center as Garrett testing their turbo, there will be some differences. The surgeline at higher boost may shift more to the right, and the JB turbo will be less efficient at higher back pressure rations. PM us if you have a built motor and are interested in testing our STX 76 prototype. Thanks, Sam |

![]() Sam:
That being said, what is the expected power of the STX-71 then? What loses do you see using the JB over the BB The specs for the STX-76 still stand? CmpInd/CmpExd: 58/76.6 TrbInd/TrbExd: 61/54.10 |

It should be able to make the same peak power. The compressor wheel can flow what it can flow irrespective of the JB vs BB center. If you have a well designed intake, exhaust, etc., I think there won't be much lost JB vs BB. If you have say a lot of back pressure, the BB turbo version will be more efficient. That is all. ![]() Thanks, Sam |

![]() A couple months ago, some of you may recall that we announced we were working on a new prototype turbocharger. Below you will see that turbocharger; the Steam STX 76 – a journal bearing 76mm turbocharger mated to a lightweight 9-blade turbine wheel with a 3" inlet. We will keep you posted when we have dyno results.
