Most recent thing I've seen is mid-October for STI & WRX orders.

Yup and its bugging me! Dealer says no changes (which I didn't believe) and said I could order already (this was in beginning of July) and I called BS because he didn't have any papers or info on 2012 STi which got me mad.

I just went last Saturday to Wayne Subaru and put down my $500 deposit for the 2012 STI. They didn't really have too much info on the 2012 WRX or STI's except for a little pamphlet with some of the 2012 Subaru models coming out... and the 2012 wrx and sti were both in there with little info...

Anyway he said he checks the system every day and every hour so once orders are finally official he will let me know. This will be my very FIRST subie and I cannot wait.

Latest news:

We have Standard Equipment, Accessory and Pricing info for every model.
We have received info on our next allocation that includes new 2012 WRX's.
We are expecting the first run to hit next month, unless something unexpected happens.
We are still waiting on the ability to perform Factory Orders on WRX/STi's and Fozzies.

Since we've got allocation info now, it should just be a matter of days/weeks before we can order the cars.

So I go to a dealership by my house once every 3 weeks to sit in the limited WRX/STIs they get in to keep me motivated about wanting to buy a 2012 Limited STI.

Of course by doing this I always get a salesman pushing me to 'drive it away tonight'.

When talking to one of these nice fellas, he mentioned something I have never heard before.

He said, Subaru will be taking back all the left over 2011 Imprezas once the 2012's start really arriving at dealerships. This is so the factories can strip them down and use the already assembled chassis to build the WRX/STI.

He said that by doing this, Subaru will be able to really catch-up with demand of the WRX/STI over the next year.

This is REALLY interesting now, because one of the colors mentioned for the 2012 STI is that it will come in the same red as the current 2011 Impreza.

Has anyone else heard something like this?

This makes absolutely no sense to me.
The chassis codes are as follows:
2011 Sedan Impreza - GE
2011 5 Door Impreza - GH
2011 Sedan WRX/STi - GV
2011 5 Door WRX/STi - GR

They are different chassis with different mounting points, hardware, weld points, engines, trans, diffs, suspension, etc.

I can't imagine anything like this ever happening. By the time the 2012 Impreza arrives there won't be any 2011's to "take back". The logistics of taking US cars back to Japan, stripping them, rearranging the whole car to get to a finished product would be an absolute nightmare.

The only thing I have ever heard like this was back in 2003 when Nissan bought back 20
R34's to make the Z-tunes.

I think your post totally deserves to be in this thread. Please question the gentleman thoroughly next time you are there as to where he is getting his "inside" information.

The only color that is changing for the 2012 WRX/STi Line-Up is Spark Silver. It will now be the new Ice Silver.
For the "normal" Impreza Line-Up there are four new color combos available.

Efffin Dealers. Keep making a bad name for us. Where do they come up with this garbage?

Fingers Crossed!

Per Subaru:

The Dealer Sold Order system is currently unavailable.

We will post an announcement when it is brought back up.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may create.

Maybe they are getting the Order System populated for the WRX/STi.

So I went into a local Subaru dealership (Mark Miller) with my buddy. We were shopping around for a 2011 WRX for him, and I was talking to salesperson and mentioned I had a 2011 STI myself. He tells me " You know the new 2012 BASE STI sedans are not going to come with the wing standard, only the LIMITED models will have the wing " I was like wtf?! Wow some of these dealers really now how to bull**** with customers.

Anyway that is "my dealership told me" story. Don't know if it's true or not but sounds like lies to me

Where do they come up with this stuff? If you are a Subaru Dealer you have access to the Standard Equipment for all of the 2012MY cars now.

Been trying to buy a base 2011 WRX hatch (OBP or WRB) for a week now. Twice now I've been told the car I put a deposit on is "mine". I guess dealers aren't very friendly when it comes to trading cars (odd, since I thought I was buying a Subaru, not a Dealer XXX car). And now the dealer wants me to pay for transportation costs to go and get one out of the immediate area. Why should I front the cash when I was told "oh yeah, that WRX is yours"??

Threre are only a couple of these cars on the ground now and only a few more en route to the Eastern Region before the 2012 turn-over next month.
If they've got a car locked in, you have a "good" deal as far as pricing, I would pay the extra shipping charges.

You people dont know how much power you hold as a customer.

you can tell a salesman to wank off, and he cant even do a thing. Dont listen to any dealership says anything about cars. Its the same as the telephone game. Somewhere somehow the message get distorted. Just do your own research. stick with what you want and ride it out. you are the customer, you have demands!!!!!!

Especially the SUBARU VIP program. I love that program. some guy mention 35k sti out the door no emotion. Sames goes for me 26k out the door base VIP style A dollar a day, will keep the sales man anchor at bay.

Although correct in most cases of overflowing inventory, you also have to factor in supply and demand. In reality 90+% of WRX/STi's that come in are already spoken for and usually ordered 6-12 weeks before they arrive. There's this mentality where the customer is always right, and also the mentality that you understand what's truly happening and realize any available WRX/STi won't last long. For the people that understand this, they usually will pay MSRP. Especially when the 2013+ WRX/STi future is uncertain.

I tell my customers all the time, for the $1,000 of markup we have on the car I would hate for them to loose out, especially with model year end rapidly approaching. If they don't want to pay, they don't get to play.

At the end of the day there's an informed customer and a misinformed customer. The same holds true for salespeople. Some salespeople are just your stereotypical salesmen. Others of us actually know what we're talking about and try to do the best thing for the customer and dealership.

At this point any available WRX/STi I would expect to pay near MSRP, and depending what unfolds with the 2013+, possibly more. Supply and demand.

Agreed. Especially on this: "At the end of the day there's an informed customer and a misinformed customer. The same holds true for salespeople. Some salespeople are just your stereotypical salesmen. Others of us actually know what we're talking about and try to do the best thing for the customer and dealership"

WRX/STI models are mostly sold orders right now and the ones that are available that come in last maybe 3 days.

Something around MSRP or a few hundred off MSRP is likely what you will pay for one and that may depend on your particular dealer and in stock/pipeline supply in the region, but don't expect to buy one at or back of invoice at this point.

Ordering of 2012 WRX and STI models should end at the end of April with 2013 orders opening up sometime in June (middle/late). So far we have not received the official info on 2013 models, but I wouldn't expect too much in the way of changes for the 2013 WRX/STI models except for a small price hike since the redesign is expected for 2014 models.

If you get to order one, expect it to take 8-12 or even 14 weeks to arrive. If it comes in earlier, GREAT, but I have seen cars (even just a plain Legacy that doesn't have to travel on a ship) take 13 weeks to come in this year.
