Warranty Claim @ subaru of scumberg
So I bought my '03 wrx from subaru of schaumburg back at the end of april this year and I know ppl say to stay away from them but they didnt seem to shady of guys. I got the car with 33k and the car now currently has 35,xxx. Just recently my passenger side power window became intermittent and now totally non-functional. When I bought the car they told me I had 2 months of unlimited mileage warranty which I realize is now gone plus the additional factory warranty which they said still existed but did not know how much was left.
So I finally decide to call Subaru of Schaumburg about the window and I tell them exactly what the dealer told me. He first tells me that there was no such thing as "2 months of unlimited warranty" and secondly, he says that the warranty was already finished with BEFORE I got the car. He pretty much said that I was sol and I got bs'd by the saleman. WTF?!?!?!?!?! I know I guess its too late for everything now but I just needed to vent my frustration.

Once again I'm amazed that someone would read to stay away from sos and still go there. It's like being told to stay away from a dog because it bites, then getting close and being surprised when you get bit.

If any dealership promises you anything you had better get it in writing or it just doesn't exist.

i think you still may have warranty depending on when the car was originally bought since it's 36000 or 3 years whichever comes first. If it was late 03 model bought later than July 03 you still should have warranty.
But than again, why did you go there in the first place??? |

go in there and kick the guy the yells at everybody square in the nuts.
I walked in to test drive a forester and walked out because the guy was being a TOTAL douchebag to his employee in front of everybody over something completely trivial (forgot to refill his coffee or something) |

FWIW, SoS just recently was 40% bought out by the new (which was also an old) GM. He says he's trying to turn things around, but I have no examples to share (my car would laugh at waranty paperwork... audibly).

why not talk to Craig(he's the parts manager) and ask him who'd you'd need to speak with for some type of assistance? Not having the complaint taken care of right away was part of your mistake...the next part was believing what a salesmen told you. There's no reason they could not have run the VIN and told you when the factory warranty was due to expire.
Don't laydown, there's always some recourse available. |

Sucks to hear, but on the window thing, it may just be the electrical plug. If you're willing to pull the door trim off, pull back the water shield (clear plastic with sticky around edges), the plug for the window motor in situated behind the sheet metal. I had the same/similar problem, and the plug had come loose. It didn't feel like it had a good snap fit to it when I pushed it back on.

I know that Sos is garbage but at the same time they gave me an excellent deal for my car, $16,400 with only 33k mi, and I have been dreamin the day of owning a WRX. Plus from what I was told and what they told me they got totally new management and the guy seemed fairly honest (told me he had a modded M3).
I know the window thing is not a big deal because I replaced 3 power window motors on my old 240 its just the nice to know that I could have had warranty during the summer til I had to go back to school. I'll see if I can get on their a$$ about this warranty stuff and straighten things out. Also, thanks for the offer Dylan but I hear ur a busy guy so I wont bother |
