Default JDM power folding mirrors installed and painted...

click for pix and video

What a royal pain in the you know what but now that it is done it was all worh it...

There is a lot more involved than just wiring and bolting the mirrors up to the car. I had to modify the stock mracket that goes between the mirror pod and the car because the JDM brackets put the mirror pods at the wrong angle to use the mirrors from the drivers side of a LHD vehicle.

I don't exactly understand the point of power folding mirrors, but that's pretty bad ass.

The point for me at least was to be different. In Japan the reason they are used is because parking spaces are a lot tighter than they are here in the USA...

That's damn cool.

I still want the Signal Auto Carbon JGTC-style mirrors though. Signal needs to get their asses in gear and make their English site work again...

It took about 5 hours all together including installing them and making them work. I could probably do it again in 3 hours now that I know what is involved...

On another note, how did you get the EDM headlights to work with the leveling switch? I know the EDM headlights have the leveling motors built in... did you do a write up on that?

And the JDM side markers as well... look great. How'd you do those?

I used another write up that I found on the web - I can not even remember where at the moment. All I had to do was run power and ground to the switch and the motors on the lights and 4 wires from the switch to the headlights. I did not bother with a write up since I was using someone elses work at that point to get mine working. I will try to dig up the link and post it on my site to give the person/people who wrote the article their props...

As for the side markers, all I can say is measure 30 times and cut once. I also cut a little smaller and enlarged to fit.

The best way to do this is to make a template with cardboard first and trace the hole on to the fender as a guide for cutting.

Not to hijack my own thread but...

Here is a link to the article I used for the headlight leveling. It lists the 4 pin switch for the EDM lights but I am using the 6 pin and it works great. I also had to figure out which wire from the switch went to which pin on the head lights because mine were different than what is listed in the article.

The power and ground pins were spot on though.

There is almost an entire tube of loctite on each screw.

I was able to get most of them out with a little elbow grease but I did end up drilling a few of them out. Between my stock ones and the JDM mirrors I had enough screws to put them back together again...

Holy thread bump batman.

I'm liking the painted...mirror mounting bracket thing. Cleans up look of that part of the car. I'll have to do that to my car someday.

That's a cool mod. I usually just push mine in when I park somewhere tight in my bugeye though.
