Default Turbo heat shield question

Hey everyone, I bought my 2004 WRX back in July of 2012 and the turbo heat shield on it is missing. What are your opinions on this? Should I spend the $50-$70 to get one, or should I just leave it off? I know heat soak is a concern but will it permanently damage anything if I don't put it on? Thanks in advance.

I got sick of mine one day so never bothered putting it back on.

You'd be better off looking into a turbo blanket.

If the set up is the same as an 02 it could heat up your cruise control module and melt it. Get the heat shield.

i would look for a used one in the classifieds or put up a wanted ad probably get one pretty cheap. the oem one will work best since it is more form fitted to the turbo. and yes it will help heat soak the intercooler without it.

I'd get one.

You can get the OEM ones for nearly free. Many people remove them for larger downpipes. If you have an aftermarket downpipe, you need to run an aftermarket heat shield or cut the OEM one.

Or just roll with aftermarket for some bling... lol.
