Do you have any idea as to just how offensive comments like this are?

OK looking cars to me......for ALFA ROMEO!! I think it's cheesy to move companies then use the same design. When I first saw the B-11S, I passed it right up thinking it was an Alfa. Nice looking cars but cheesy cheesy cheesy. His designs got the most uproar. Glad he's gone.

Plus, it has the JDM nicer interior, McIntosh audio, and the tail lights that actually FIT with the trunk seam. The US tail lights split the clear and red slightly differently than the seam on the back of the trunk lid, and it is an aggravating little bit of stupidity, considering that it was originally designed correctly in Japan.

If there were a coupe version of this... even something simply converted from the sedan version, like a BMW E36 or E46 coupe... we probably still wouldn't see it.

I don't know.

But I can't help but think it is somehow deliberate.

Why would they make an effort to re-design the housings?

They have the same bulb configuration as the JDM lights. The reflex reflectors are down in the bumper.

Someone screwed that detail up on purpose, and I have no idea what a possible good reason for that could be.

In hindsight, can anyone else look at this and see a bit of Volvo C30, at least in the greenhouse?

Yes, good observation.
The B5-TPH was a beautiful design exercise and I wish more of its' styling elements had been incorporated into production Subraus.

Kage, this is where you're supposed to place a flattering caricature or actual photo of HB_Dad. I know for a fact he doesn't look like Ellen D or sport a bushy moustache (well at least he didn't). In fact, I believe I have a photo of hm picking up his new Tribeca at the dealership a while back ... now presumably lost forever somewhere on my harddrive.

Didn't look that much different to me. Just that there is a little extra window on the production Impreza versus the concepts. I also think it is relative position to the driver, eh? The mirrors are probably in the "same" place as now, just the A-pillar sweeps further forward on the new design.

Alfa for sure, which isn't surprising given that Subaru's 'Advanced Design Studio' head at the time the B5-TPH was penned was Greek-born Andreas Zapatinas ... the former chief stylist at Alfa-Romeo.

Default Don't sweat the mirrors ...

Who cares if they put the outside rearview mirrors on the doors near the A-pillar?
If traditional Japanese auto styling prevailed today, they'd be somewhere out on the front wings.
Kind of old school cool, don't you think?

funny how those are my favorite styled Subarus.. that gen legacy was gorgeous... and the forester was dorky yet handsome as well; those were all very distinctly subarus as well

The roof rails on an impreza hatch would be a welcome improvement. I personally don't like the tall yakima/thule-esque style that sit atop the current OBS.

I think this concept will give us a pretty good idea of what the hatch will look like. Also gives Subaru the chance to debut "2" models at different shows while also showing us the basic style of the sedan and hatch.

Agree wholeheartedly: the current OBS roof rails look like a frightful afterthought.

Lol, I was starting to wonder if anybody actually even SAW my post. At least one person did.

Agreed on your analysis- I think the xv "concept" is going to be like the 08 sti "concept" that was 95% production car.
