Default Ford Focus ST facelift

Ford Focus ST facelift

Following the release of the facelifted Focus hatch back in September and yesterday’s launch of the limited edition ST500 model come images of the updated Focus ST, due to hit showrooms in March next year as a 2009 model. The new car will once again be available in both three and five-door bodystyles and will be differentiated from its regular stablemates thanks to a sporty front grille, integrated foglamps and 18in alloys.

Up back sits a revised tailgate and a new bumper with an integrated diffuser and new tailpipe design. The interior gets upgraded trim and a new center console with an engine starter button as well as several ancillary features including a 230V power outlet and audio jack.

The brilliant 2.5L five-cylinder turbo engine remains unchanged, still developing a healthy 225hp. This means the car should accelerate from 0-62mph in around 6.5 seconds.
The facelifted ST will be debuting alongside the updated Focus coupe-cabrio, which you can see a preview of by clicking here.

I have a feeling we will start seeing more euro Fords soon. With the SUV/truck bubble having burst, and more people buying small cars. In order for Ford to make money, they need to put more effort into this area. It will all come down to the success or failure of the Saturn Astra. If that works for GM, Ford will follow suit. Maybe we will see a US Ford KA, hopefully with a Sport version as an option. With the horrible sales of the 500/Taurus, Ford is bound to let the Mondeo take another crack at America. And then maybe one day they will pull their heads out of their asses and send over some turbo Foci.
