SD Street Races or Bust!!!
My car will be out of the shop this Tuesday with its new turbo, and that means its' time for me to cruise down to Calsbad and get my new, hopefully better timeslip!! Since I will be down there, I think the street races should definately be visited.
So hit me up if anyone is going to the track or the street races, I dont know anyone down there so I will be the tourist. Im bring a couple of cars, couple of girls, Find me this M3 and it looks like were all set. No seriously I know IVES and about 10 others go reguraly. I want to cruise with you guys, and show SD what our WRX's can do. |

Where can I find more info on this track? It's a 1/4 mile drag right? What are the basic rules? I have been wanting to test out my 1/4 mile since I put the turbo on.

Make no mistake about it... the Carlsbad Raceway is the biggest POS dragstrip in the country. It's a piece of California motoring heritage though. It's extremely run down currently because they are shutting it down. I believe this is it's last season.
When coming from the 5 exit on Palomar Airport Rd. Drive East till you get to Business Park Dr. Hang a left. (I believe there's a brand new 7-11 there on the corner) The first little driveway on your left on Business Park Drive is going to lead to the dirt road that goes down to the Dragstrip and Motocross area. I think they now charge $12 to spectate and another $10 to run your car. There aren't many cars that sho up anymore so, you'll get to run your car at least a dozen times. Oh and you basically use a restroom that looks like an outhouse... complete with wooden see-through door Here's an aerial view of the track. |

I completly agree, dirt road and all.. but its sea level, and lets be honest.. our WRX's hook up on almost anything. All you need is a helmet and you should be good to go.. And bring some ice for your intercooler because they dont have a concession stand.

I am down, but the Saturday races are tough to predict.
WRX Power and I rolled out last night, and they ended up getting busted. First time for a Sunday. I would love to see that M3 get broken off by a WRX. I think I would be down to run on Saturday at Carlsbad. "Bottlefed..." are you going to use Nitrous with the new turbo setup? What times do you predict to run? I would love to see your setup. "Lets spank some Honda a$$" By the way the people at Carlsbad love the WRX especially the Grand National guys. |

bottlefedwrx Don't you think you should gently drive your WRX before you open up the new turbo.

Well I was there for about 20 min. watching the races.
Then two patrol cars pulled up with sirens and all. Everyone ran as usual, but I didn't see them pull over anyone. Just patrolled around making sure everyone left. We left and went to Kearney Villa, where some cars gathered, but then everyone left there too. We then proceeded to Convoy, which was uneventfull. We went back to Tech. Ave and no one was there. I then went home. Major disappointment. I did notice that a security guard was up the street waiting, I bet he is the one who called the police. Time to find somewhere else I guess. |

Im going to of course break in my turbo, I get my car back tomarrow which gives me like 4 days to drive, let alone the 3 1/2 hr drive down to San Diego.
Yeah, Im going to be using my nitrous, I really dont think it had a bearing on what happened to my turbo. All im going to say is that Im pretty sure I will be getting a better time then a 12.8 |

Ek, helmets? I don't have one... The Searspoint 1/4 track where I lived near by required helmets only for cars 13 or low. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'll break into 13's but because I didn't have a helmet I didn't give it a try at the Searspoint. Helmets are expensive too...

I was going to post about what was up with your car, but I thought I shouldn't just in case something was wrong.
I am really curious to see what is up with your car. I hope its done by Saturday too. |

IMPBOY, The only qualification the helmet has to have is to be DOT approved. The helmets that are available as loaner units at our local AutoX's are not very expensive. I stopped by the closest motorcycle dealer and found one I liked for $75

I picked up an HJC open-face helmet over at Fun Bike Center on Convoy for $80. They have a very good selection.
