Default Subaru to unveil the 7-seater at Paris show?

Quote:
The Paris auto show opens Thursday — but right now at TheCarConnection.com, you can take your own private tour of Paris ’ new vehicles in our two-part preview. Then it’s on to the week’s auto news — the closure of Jaguar’s Browns Lane plant and what it means to the future of Ford in Britain; Ford's decision to re-think its TH!NK scrapping; the slide in sales of SUVs; and an investigation into the links between diesels and cancer. Drive the ’05 Mitsu Evolution MR, see the Subaru Tribeca and VW Golf R32 before they hit the streets, and stay tuned this week as TCC reports live from the Paris Auto Show. And in Daily Edition find out more about Car-Free Day and OnStar's new push for business.
This According to the front page of www.thecarconnection.com, the "Subaru Tribeca" is supposedly at the Paris show. They have no other articles or pictures of it from the show other than that one snippet. Does anyone know if it is actually there?

By the way, there are a couple of new Spy Shot images in an new update at that "Car Connection" website:

http://www.thecarconnection.com/inde...&sid=178&n=158

There is a little less camo on it this time, and the rear end is a lot clearer.

Maybe the Halifax/Tribeca is a surprise exhibit tomorrow (keeping fingers crossed)?

I guess it's conceivable that Subaru could show the new 7-seater offsite at some invitation-only function. But I'd also expect FHI's chairman and CEO to be present, and he's a no-show at Paris this year.

If you re-read the quote you posted from the Car Connection, it seems clear that the Subaru spy-shots and the Paris Motor Show coverage are two separate and unrelated stories in the current edition of their e-zine.

Bah, you're right! Sneaky bastards started and ended the paragraph regarding the Paris show, so the crap in between seem,ed like it was related. Oh well...

BTW, Subaru has a web page devoted to the Paris show at http://www.subaru-global.com/topics/...ris/index.html. It's probably too much to hope for an online video of Mr. Wada's address at the press conference tomorrow, but I do expect that pictures of Subaru's display at Paris will show up there eventually.

Well, FHI has taken precautions, like filing for an EU trademark on Halifax last April. FHI has also applied for a trademark on "Halifax" in Australia, the US, and Canada.

This suggests (to me) that the Halifax won't be a US-only vehicle.

NAIAS is where the unveiling likely will be.

Unfortunately I see this 7-pax as a flop. If they keep it set with its 35-40 k price range it will unfortunately fail.

Typical Subaru.

Great idea, poor execution.

Make it 30k and it will sell thousands.

The Car Connection article starts out calling it "the $40,000 Subaru" but much further down says "The new SG/X will likely start in the low-to-mid $30,000 range with an estimated production of up to 40,000 units annually." Hopefully the 40k is for the fully loaded version only. At around 32k it might have a chance. (but the price is all speculation anyway)

Ah, because it's "typical Subaru". I mean what execution has Subaru ever got right? The WRX... what a flop! And the Outback... when was the last time you saw one of those on the road? Poor execution all the way round I say. And the new Legacy??? Way overpriced! Subaru may as well just give up now as they'll only screw up the "Halifax" anyway.

^^ methinks brandon was being sarcastic.

Note btw that the top-end Outbacks are in the low 30s and still sell, although not in huge numbers. I suspect those models might be dropped once this new thing comes out.

I don't, there are still people (like me) that refuse to drive "mini vans" which is all I see this tribecca as being.

Call it what ya want, looks like a soccormom mobile to me. The upside to that is most soccormoms don't give a crap about what their cars look like, they look more into features and saftey ratings. Which given subaru's saftey history, and awd, and the rumor of the completely configurable interior with fold flat seats etc, make this veichle very well targeted.
