Yeah, I've known several different remote start systems that shut off once the door opens for anti-theft precaution.

that link goes to the rearview mirror install. thats how remote starter is supposed to work? really? doesn't seem to make sense. i'm trying to warm up or cool down my car and it turns off when i open the car door? hmmm. man i hope this isn't true. so everytime i start my car with remote start i'll be starting it twice.? the viper remote start i had on my camry - would turn the car off - by placing foot on brake or shifting from park w/o putting key in the ignition. that totally makes sense to me

yes. car came with rear cargo cover.

WTH... I don't like this one AT ALL. Is this the same for the navi as well? All these driving "precautions" is starting to irritate me too! All the free will is going down the drain. What frustrates me is that we have to understand, its not the car but the driver who has to drive safely.

I see 18-19 years olds in my neighborhood all the time with their earphones on and texting while driving their cars/cagers. This one girl almost bumped into a car in front of her if I hadn't knocked at her window while passing by riding my bike. She was cursing me out but I saved her mommy and daddy's wallet. ...Then again, she was hot and I was looking at her not the road. What does that say about me? ...Maybe they should make bikes with anti-mobility when not having two hands on the steering.

Sorry about that (cross eyed). Here is the correct link:

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/661...H001SFJ000.pdf

Look at the after installation checklist.

The 2010+ Outback and Legacy does the same thing. Just something to get used to - or go after market.

You could shift gear from parking without pressing the brake pedal or putting key in?

Well there you go...

G- will the after market starter void the warranty?

Not sure as I am a consumer like yourself. What I do know about aftermarket parts is that if they or the installation of them causes damage to a warranted part, that the warranty for that damage can be voided. This means not the entire car, just those parts and pieces that were damaged by the aftermarket part.

Here is a link to a thread in the Outback forum that addresses the subject. The new remote for the Impreza is the same one that is used in the Outback and Legacy.

http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...termarket.html

I think that there were a couple of other threads concerning the remote in that forum, as well.

For any one in the NY area waiting on delivery, I saw a trailer full of new Imprezas in the rest area on I-684 headed Southbound! Didn't get a chance to snap a pic.

This happens if you start the car while the door is unlocked. If you first lock the door, start the car, then unlock the door using your remote, it will not shut off.

At least that's how it worked on my 2008 impreza.

The remote for the 2008 - 2011 works as indicated; however, that is not the unit that will be sold with the 2012 Impreza. Research "remote start outback" and look at all that is said about the 2010 and newer outback/legacy.

In short - The car turns off, if remotely started whenever any door, or the hood is opened. It was engineered to do that - period.

lol there was a silver hatch but I don't recall the particulars.
First one I saw was a blue sedan and thought it was a shipment of new Civics. (That's not intended to be a dig...I actually like the new Impreza design)

I live in Islip but work in upper Westchester.

Maybe, but then what other things are effected? Saw that post ears ago; however, I just accepted the ways things were on the Wife's Outback.

That sounds annoying, sorry for the wrong info, I assumed it works the same as previous models.

No problem. I would of liked that it worked like the older model; however, the new one has about 4 times the operating range/distance, has a "positive feedback", and I believe with the Limited modes (Automatic Air/Cool), it may automatically turn on the Defrosters for the Mirrors, Windshield, and Rear Window (Hatch) like our Outback does. Can't say for sure at this time - just hoping it does.

Actually, I just noticed that the status of inventory changed at Ramsey Subaru in NNJ. The one that I thought may have been mine based on the options is no longer on their website. I'm hoping it's because it is undergoing the MC replacement and that someone calls me real soon with good news. The other Sport Limited that is there says Call for Price. I hope this is a good sign for me and not some other poor soul who is also waiting. Their inventory on the website changed from 17 earlier this morning to 24 now and 2 are posted as Call. Don't know if these are the store's own inventory or what.

But there is hope for you: I leave in the Montreal area and the pick up of my new Impreza sport is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday)!!! The car arrived last Friday, but I had to wait for the Master cylinder to get fixed (the dealer received the part on Wednesday).... can't wait to testdrive it tonight and to finally end this almost never ending waiting story

Default antenna on roof?

Does anybody know if the antenna on the 2012 antenna folds down? or is it going to be a sitting duck, sitting up waiting for some f*#@kface to snap it off?

Be glad it has an antenna. My 04 Impreza Wagon had the "antenna" in the rear window. Reception was awful!
