King Springs or Subtle Solutions 1" Lift Kit
Trying to decide between the two of these. Making the trek from Phoenix to Bellingham in a couple weeks which should hopefully be uneventful. It's the drive from Haines to North Pole that I'm not fond of. Just looking for more clearance so I'm not destroying my under carriage and just to be able to run larger tires. Anyone running any of these set ups? Also, when it comes to tires its obviously personal preference but, what snow/ice tire is the best bang for the buck? Any help/input would be great. Thanks.

You will be fine with no lift.

I'm aware that I'll be ok. I'd just prefer to put a little extra lift.

Ur speedo will read slower with taller tires not by much tho. There is a neighborhood with a radar readout 25mph and when I'm going 21mph it reads I'm going 25mph

If it was just for the drive, I would do the lift kit, not the struts and springs. That opinion is based solely on the cost involved. I agree with the statement that you will be fine driving up here at stock height, but I can understand you concern as well.

What would you destroy with the undercarriage?

I've heard nothing but good things about King springs, and have wanted my own for a long time. However as others have stated I don't know why you would want them for that specific drive.

The biggest things to worry about on that drive are things that a lift kit won't help with: wildlife. Elk, caribou, bear, moose, bison, cougar, lynx, fox, rabbits, birds, horse. Canada is littered with them.
I'd rather deal with those than deer, though. |

I'm really enjoying my lift and 27" Grabbers, does a 2013 need different struts for the lifting springs or taller tires?
I'd suggest spacers since it'd be easier and cheaper to try out the lift, and easier to remove them if you decide you hate the lift long term. Then you can replace or supplement the spacers with lifting spring and struts if you want to go all out. |

I have the 'stock length' King springs which were good for a little under an inch lift (I think King also has a +15mm length spring), and I really like them. I got them because I wanted a handling improvement without giving up ride height, and they handle amazingly. The fact that I got a small lift is just icing on the cake. I added 1/4" rear strut spacers at the same time to eliminate 'saggy butt' when carrying a lot of gear.
If you're worried about destroying your undercarriage a good set of skid plates will give you better protection than an extra inch of ride height. I have the Primitive Racing 'triple armor' set which covers the underside of the engine, transmission, and rear diff. Nice fitment, looks pretty under there, and will take a beating (3/16" aluminum). About the same price as my King springs setup. You might look into the General Altimax Arctic for budget winter tires. |

Why not go for both?
We have a 1" lift kit option for all Subaru vehicles from 1995 to 2015. Pair these spacers up with a set of Ironman lift springs or King Springs for the ultimate lift. Oh, and our new Trailing Arm Spacers for the (02-07) Impreza and (98-08) Foresters are in production now! |
