Default Plan on going Cobb stg3

I plan on going cobb stg3 with the STI TMIC and VF39. Do you think I should save my money and buy a FMIC and then get a protune?

There is no stage 3. There is 2.5 which is a VF34 + fuel pump and injectors for 2002-2005. The 06s have bigger injectors stock though, and I do not think there is a 2.5 map out for the 06s. If I were you I would get a simple stage two, then save up for an 18g FMIC and other supporting mods + protune.

A FMIC won't really do much of anything for you with a VF39, I don't think. A TD06-20G (or maybe even 18G) would be a different story.

Cobb just posted dyno's of their stage 3 maps, one for the VF39 and one for the Td06 18G. Both have nearly equal power and torque with the VF39 having more torque and the 18g having a little more hp up top.

Either way I'd save for a protune and skip the FMIC, neither of those turbo's are going to be supporting enough hp to warrant anything bigger then the STI top mount

Sti top mount is crap. 18 is much bigger than the vf39 and IMO does warrent a fmic

This thread got moved to the 2.0 forum but since it's about a 2006 TR, I'm putting it in the 2.5 forum.

The 18G *should* make way more power than the VF39 if the rest of the engine bit can support it. It flows, what, about 50% more air? I'd guess that a) a conservative tune, and b) the STI top mount are really holding it back. Even with just a bigger TMIC and a tune should have an 18G killing a VF39.
