this is what i was doing.
would splitting the grounding cables into two separate cables really make that much difference??
and also, should i ground the cables at separate points or would that not matter?
Rippen Griffen, thanks for the awesome picture and quick response by the way

i was going to install the hellas that i had in my old impreza into my 09 tonight, but i couldnt find the stock horn, lol. does anyone have a pic of the stock horns on the 08-09 wrx? also, when i was looking behind the grille for places to mount the hellas, i only noticed one viable hole on the passenger side, any suggestions?

there is one horn in the grille. The other one is under the airbox, you will have to remove the airbox to get at the second one...

If want to keep my stock horns and switch between the two, can I simply (yeah, I know, nothing is that simple) wire the steering wheel switch through a 2 position switch (one for OEMs one for Hellas) then from that switch to each horn relay? I haven't done much automotive wiring so any suggestions here would be appreciated.

Ogden, I am planning to do something very similar. When i do my install, I plan to make a write up so people who want to be able to switch between their stock and hellas can see an easy way. I have put a lot of thought into how I am going to do it, but I am still uncertain of a few things, so I am not going to say anything right now. This is to avoid confusion.

My hellas come in monday, and hopfully go on tuesday!

Followed Car vs. Driver's instructions today to the T...worked great on the first shot! Took a while but it was worth it! Make sure you get a ring terminal or two for the battery connection..they help and he forgot to put them in the tools needed list!

Note to self: If you install hella supertones inside a garage wait to get outside to test them. My ears are still ringing.

when i installed them, i honked them from inside the car and though, "how directional could they be?" and thought they didn't sound very loud. so I went around the front of the car and chirped the horn and that's when i knew...

you should angle the bottom two horns to the side. they're not doing you any good anyway.

Nice write up, going to do this tomorrow.

But I have a few questions. I have an 09 wrx, there is only 1 horn behing the grill. Where is the other? Under the air cleaner box or near the abs controller? I haven't torn into anything on this car yet.

When I chirp the alarm will the hellas go off or will it use the 2nd horn (if I have one)?

When the alarm/panic sounds will it use the hellas or the 2nd horn (if I have one)?

08 sti. same system. your other horn is beneath the passenger side of the bumper. once you take the bumper off, you will see it.

If you splice into the front horn, your hellas will go off with panic/chirp. can't say the same about the other one, since i wouldn't know.
