Default steamed up headlights from doing headlight painting mod....help?

I did the headlight painting mod. i took them out, baked them for 5 minutes each, split them apart, painted them black, heated them up 2 minutes each, put them back together and now i have steamed up headlights and it hasnt gone away all day. is there any way i can get rid of the steam without re-opening the casings(which would cause the steam again anyway)? thanks for any suggestions.

just let them air out or use a hairdryer, but you will have to reseal them.......moisture in the light can cause the bulb to explode.....

Default moisture in headlights

this happened to me too because I lost too much goop and didn't seal up the headlights properly. The solution is to remove the headlight assembly from the car (the wires, harness, bulbs) and then put a hairdryer near all the holes (where the bulbs go). Then the condensation will leave. Then seal them up with some goop or glue (make sure if you do it with really strong glue that you have done a good job, you dont want to open them again!) This way you don't have to bake them again.

One of my lights fogged up a week after the mod. I took the assembly out, removed all the bulbs. I put the whole unit back in the oven at 225F for 10 minutes to evaporate the condensation.

At this point the goop is soft again so I just squeezed the unit together a bit more and applied a layer of silicone sealant. The other light seems to be fine without the silicone. No more problems on the "fixed" light.

the only way you'll get rid of the moisture in there is to open them back up. remember, cold air hold less water than warm air. After you take them apart, put them in the fridge for a little while and then put them back together. Use a blowdryer to melt the goo back together.

ok so i re-opened them and guess what? it wasnt steam. its some sort of baked on haze. i dont have any idea where it came from. i just know i saw it appear as soon as i put my headlights together the very first time and figured it was steam. this **** doesnt come off. im so ****ing pissed right now. well this gives me a reason to get those morettes ive been wanting. hehe. thanks for your help guys. although i did manage to get around the haze. i put a light glaze of oil on the inside of the buld on the haze and it saturates it until its clear. it works!
im a genius....sometimes

I just did the headlight mod last weekend...it took awhile but the results are worth it..looks damn good hehe...when I stuck mine back together I put some silicone down in the groove where the grey sticky stuff is also..ran a thin bead all the way around..pressed it back together..then put another bead of silicone around the crack between the plastic and glass..and smeared it around the seam of the whole light..to make sure it wouldnt leak or fog...painting the actual piece inside was a pain..I decided to see if the paint would just stick to it without any help...nope!....so I has to sand both pieces and get most of all of the chrome off of it..then painted and it stuck fine...I do recomend this mod tho to anyone with an impreza...GC8 or WRX...makes both look much more aggressive.
