Thumbs up AccessECU, stg-2, 93 octane, lunch break impression.

Sent the ECU in on monday, and I just got it back today morning(wednesday).
I got it reflashed for a stage-2 map, 93 octane, 285/285 hp/tq.

So, I reinstall the ECU, and reconnect my battery(had it disconnected while the ECU was out), and go for a 20min. "lunch break" spin.

My first impression??
Not a head snapping difference from my previous mod which was just a 3" turbo back system.
The first thing that I really did notice from the beginning was the extra torque. Now the car seems to move very easily like I have unloaded couple hundred pounds off the car or something. It's very noticeable.
As for the boost, I only had a chance to do 1 WOT as I don't have much time right now. I went WOT on 4th/4000rpm until only about 5700 rpm, and I got a .1 mpa solid.
I also did 2nd, and 3rd gear pulls, but very short as there's alot of traffic around here. Difference?? night, and day. It pulled alot stronger compared to just my previous 3'' turbo back.
It seems like the throttle response is there, and the power is there also when I ask for it.

Well.. what can you say? This was only my 20min first hand driving impression. I am going to give the ECU couple of days as I am pretty sure it needs to learn.
As for the customer service, cobb is #1!! They didn't just throw in 2 free cobb decals, but even threw in a free cobb license plate frame. Packaged my ECU back with care, and their over the phone service is top notch.

I will post back a full review of my setup after the new ECU program finds his way home but so far, no complaints. Can't go wrong with 30 day money back satisfaction.

Cost:
$21 bucks overnighted via usps in my old TXS unichip box.
$35 bucks via next day AM UPS from cobb.
$395 for the reflash.
Total: $451.00

God, I love cobb!!

Default it will get better

trust me, I did the same, lunchtime install, drove around in traffic... but in about 2 days your car will feel like a rocket ship
seriously though, Cobb is top notch and so is this AccessECU at a great bit cheaper then the other options too I might add, but no need to stir up that debate again

If you coudn't wait like my self, it's going to be the longest 3 days you ever had to wait for. Especially without your suby.

It was so hot today that I coudn't even do a full test. I eventually ended up turning my AC on. I can't stand the heat. I am in MD also, so you know how today was. I think the news said 85f? but today felt more like 100f though. It was really a hot day.
Are you getting the stg-2 wrxjim??

On what gear are you seeing the 15psi in? The first day I got it my gauge was reading .1 mpa(14.5) on 4th gear. Now after couple of days I am peaking at 15.5 on 4th, and 5th gear.
I am defenitely sure that you will have to let your ECU make it's target boost. If I remember correctly though, trey at cobb said that he aimed the boost to peak at 15.5 psi.
The car is running stronger, and smoother every day. It seems the boost starts to build very strong from 3500 rpm without a hesitation, and by 4000 you know that the program is working properly. Give it a couple of days to let your ecu learn.

ive been driving alot today

im seeing about 15psi in almost every gear. it pulls soo nicely. it was rianing, so you know i had to take it easy, so i went WOT in first from a slow roll .. it spun! in the rain

hehe

anways the only other thing i have to ask cobb is about PT .. seems like anything over many 30ish% im seeing more boost than i should. maybe its learning.

Jim, don't worry too much about the PTFB as you are very safe. Your ECU is still learning for that sweet spot so you still have plenty of more time to go I am sure.
I am almost certain that trey@cobb said that they aimed the boost to peak at 15.5, but I can't remember if that was for the stg-1, or the stg-2.
Anyhow, for the last 2 days I have been peaking at 15.5 very solid. I did a little test run on 5th/4th gear this morning, and it seems like the peak has not changed.

I know there's gotta be alot of other peoples running 93 octane/stg-2 setup. Anyone else care to comment what is their peak boost??

I have a Vishnu reflash(same kinda thing really), and regarding the PTFB issue. I used to have a JoeP on here, and PTFB was ALWAYS annoying me. I tried a few times to "make" the PT problem pop up with the reflash, and I can't. The ECU just dumps the boost. I can hold boost if I run over 80 mph on the interstate, but I'm guessing that the load on the car is enough to warrant that.

These reflashes seem the way to go for folks that get a few bits, like em and want a bullet-proof solution. I've had ZERO problems from my reflash(well....I tend to speed alot more now). Driveability, mileage, reliabilty do not seem to suffer, sometimes get a screwy after-fire, but thats just cool.

Have any among you had the reflash performed on the Cobb Club_Spec using the 93 octane, 285hp/285 ft/lbs map (without a dyno tune)? If so please report your findings here.
thank you
D
