Default STI Owners - What do you guys when you get a ding?

I recently removed 2 dings on my 2005 STI for around $120 in LA and just noticed today that I have 3 very little dings clustered together in the rear driver's side door panel... towards the bottom near the wheels. It really pisses me off that people are not careful when they open their doors... and honestly I don't know what to do anymore... I try my best NOT to park next to vans/trucks, leave as much space as possible, park next to columns or no parking spaces (to avoid at least one side), to not take my car when I know the parking is crappy, etc. and YET I got 3 damn dings again (in less than 3 months)... fcuk! I'm thinking of just leaving them for now (since they are on the bottom and are very slight dings)... and if I get more to remove them.

...so I just wanted to know what other people with STIs do when they get dings.

Live with it. Otherwise you will never wanna drive your car anywhere.

Personally I do the "park way the **** away from everyone" thing with my car... I figure it's good exercise.

I have yet to get a ding, just paint chips from road debris. I make it a point to not only park far away, but park right up against concrete barriers, giving the passenger side of my car about 2 extra feet of protection. No problems so far!

Default 2 more dings! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!

So I decided to check my entire car for more dings in case I missed any yesterday and to my surprise... there were 2 more damn dings! These where located near the gas lid area, near the top. How the fcuk does someone get dings there? Must have been a stupid SUV or something... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh I'm so pissed off.

That is high up even for an SUV... Are you sure little kids aren't throwing rocks at your car at night or something? Amazing number of dents for someone who is so careful.

Ding and dents will happen no matter what you do.

Not true my previous Audi A4 didn't have ONE SINGLE DENT after driving it for over 4 years. It really comes down to how care you choose where to park. And having strong sheet metal and thick paint (as in the A4) helps a lot too. The Subaru's sheet metal and paint is a joke.

i heard mercedes dealerships have a "touchless" dent removal system. they send a charge through your car which somehow pops the dents and dings....

awesome! its about $100 per ding though

exactly what i was going to say, my sti has no dents or dings basically due to where i park and the spots I avoid so do dings or dents (yet ) but a whole lot of paint chipping due to the cheep paint.

If I see the person actually make the ding (like sitting in a restaurant or something) their life is forfit. Otherwise a nice foot-in-the-door always works.

I have a single dent on the entire car, right in the middle of the driver's door. It's quite noticable. Some other scratches and misc paint chips, but only 1 dent. Right now it's staying until I take my car to my body shoppe guy to have the roof vent/scoop installed. He does paintless dent removal, too.

My father owns a paintless dent removal company...so I don't keep the dings around very long.

But I swear I am the most anal person when finding a good parking space... I don't know what is happening. My STI is my daily driver and I take is everywhere basically... so maybe there is really not much I can do to keep it perfect. To make things worse... 2 more dings that I saw today. They are in a very weird place though, on the pillar adjacent to the rear windshield on the driver's side. They are barely noticeable, not much a concave hole, but more of a slight unleveled surface and you can see the reflection being a bit uneven (this is how the other 2 near the gas lid look like).

DAMN Subaru paint and sheet metal... it truly sucks.

And this only applies to STi owners how? Seriously though, these type of threads are why the rest of the community view STi owners as being elitist.

Anyways, I have a total of four dings on all different panels, but fortunately all very small. I think it's time for a paintless dent removal appointment.

I've received two dings at separate times, and had 'em both removed within a week or two. The $75 or so each was well worth it... black shows dings too easily.

Just got another (like one of the first two, no idea how, it was just there one day) and I'll have it removed this week.

Rock chips, rubber smears (I track it), cone goobers (from autox) and other assorted battle scars are another matter... it's just the little dents that bother me.

That's exactly how I feel... but now I have a total of 7 small dings that I have no freakin clue how they got there... plus... are the paintless ding removal experts able to remove dings near the gas lid and on the pilar adjacent to the rear windshield? Or do they only remove on the doors?

*****... 7 dings are going to be hell expensive to remove. I don't get it... between the time I bought my car and March (around 6 months) I only got 2 dings... and after that I became SUPER ULTRA anal as to where I parked... and interestingly enough, I have 7 dings now ONLY 2 months since I repaired my previous 2 dings... WHAT THE HELL?

I have nothing against regular WRX owners... I just thought that maybe people with STIs would be more willing to fix the dings than the regular WRX owners simply because its a bit more expensive. But I guess the thread applies to everyone who is a car freak.

I'm sure they do something very different than WRX or RS owners.

Wait til you get a number of dings before you get them fixed. The dent guy told me it's cheaper to do several dents than to get them fixed one at a time. Don't feel bad. I had dents in the hood from rocks hitting it. Man was I pissed. Dent guy took out 8 dents total. I'm dent free for now. Looks perfect. They do amazing work. Good luck!
