The anti-lag actually does work pretty well. While driving, the car just wants to "go" all the time. If you let off the throttle and get back into it there is literally no transient lag at all, it gives it almost a powerful "NA" feel. And this is just using the IAC valve for extra air flow which is minimal. If you were to actually put on a throttle kicker or lock the throttle open a bit I bet it would be pretty crazy.

Granted anti-lag is more stressful on engine components, but if you are just using IAC valve fed anti-lag it really isn't as harsh as you would think. Revving your engine at a standstill and letting it pop back down to idle is probably harsher than when you are actually driving where the effect only comes into play on throttle lift.

Anyway, the next version should be out very soon with map switching and a more aggressive launch control

Jason

Now that u mentioned, it actually feels like an NA while you take of..... lol
Was looking a word to describe it but i think that how it feels like!!!!

Dont take it in bad way but i think what he is trying to say is we know the pros, cons and how to use anti lag and even better how to use the group N map, and those non constructive comments are not necessary!!!

I dont think there is something to debate here about this topic, lets concentrate in the purpose of this threat!!!

I'll have to use the anti lag as my new pre turbo exhaust leak tester.

this is why, its been in devlopment for so long and it takes a certian knowlege to even run this map. they know what they are getting into by using it and its been beaten to hell by every subaru noob on this forum that it will blow up your car if you use any form of it...

Jason,

Is it safe to turn the ALS in the rom as is? Any advice before turning it on will be appreciated.

i didnt check the AFR with the base map, on my map i changed timing, AFR table and load compensation table before even started my car the first time, i can tell you for sure it make a difference in the way you set those, so i will make sure your AFR are safe before you turn AL.

I think the best answer can be given by jason!

My friends car already has the old SD rom and we just tuned the car so i know that fueling is good. I will just copy everything over and drive around first to make sure is good before i turn on the ALS. So is as easy as checking the box and hitting the deffrost switch to turn it on or off?

Wil
it is as simple as turn the switch off and on as long the car is in between temp threshold it will activate!

Now, in the same way i did you can just copy from the previous map into this one, but be careful that the tables have same values, as jason explained, you need to open your previous map with carberry definition to get load compensation table right, apparently there is a difference in this table if you load it with a different definition, so just use carberry def and copy that table to the new map!

All the anti-lag stuff is still the same as the group-n rom, on my car I think I just changed the "idle target fueling (anti-lag active)" to 12.xx (cant remember exactly but basically just richened it up a bit). Another thing you may want to do if you extensively use the anti-lag is to relocate your 02 sensor from your header to your downpipe as it could break apart and damage your turbine on your turbo.

And as kbaldi_29 said, use the CarBerry defs to open your old SD tune and then copy everything over.

good that you mentioned the o2 part.... the scaling on this map is for the o2 sensor on downpipe or header? i used the scaling of grp n map because i know that one is on downpipe!

Location should not matter for scaling. I believe the scaling is sensor dependent.

Will there be any way to eventually ditch the stock o2 sensor and instead use a 0-5 volt signal from where the tgv sensors used to be? It would be a huge plus to be able to tune with and use after market wide bands as the o2 sensor. That and I heard talk of using a tgv sensor input for an ethanol content sensor?

This is definitely possible, if enough people are interested I can implement it.

I noticed some people on the romraider forums were talking about the ethanol sensor. Haven't seen anyone talking about the oxygen sensor thing though

I'd rather stick with the stock Do sensor for closed loop fuelling. They seem to last longer.
As for the ethanol content sensor, I'm the one who asked for it, and yes I'm still interested in using it, but the car will be going away for the winter.

Even if we could data log a wide band with the stock ecu it would be worth it.
