Somebody stole your wheels bro!

When that happens around here, they usually put your car on cinder blocks. At least they used jack stands.^

Back to stock for a while and really enjoying it. Took some pictures after a nice wash, what do you think of the ride height?

Not as bad as i would have thought it would be. Your tall tires mask so much. It'll definitely look better with the RCE setup.

What made you decide to go to RCE? I only ask because I am trying to decide between that or a coilover setup.

The reason I went for RCE and taking off the coilovers is because for the money ($1300 range) I feel you can't get a quality ride from coilovers.

Because of the roads around here, the coilovers were such a harsh ride and I felt that driving my car became a chore and unenjoyable. I know if I went with a high quality coilover like a kw-v3's or RCE tarmac 2's I would be much happier but I would need $2700-$2800

What I also found is that when I first bought the coilovers I was happy to be able to adjust the ride height and dampening whenever I wanted. What I actually did was never touch the dampening and never adjusting the ride height because I got the car corner balanced and didn't want to touch it.

Going with RCE became a clear choice because they have put the time in to test different valving and spring combos to get the perfect spring/strut match for our cars. For the money, I felt they were the best choice.

Overland,

I just wanted to say thank you for providing this feedback. This thread is definitely one the best threads on NASIOC for getting honest and informative reviews/answers for things everyone needs. Not to mention that your write-ups are second to none, and show an expert level of workmanship and attention to detail. Keep up the good work, because I can't wait to see where your build progresses from here.

Hopefully good things to come this year for the car too.

Cheers!

Thanks guys, I'm too excited to get them on! I probably won't be waiting until spring as I'm too impatient, lol But in all honestly I was surprised to see how much I don't mind the stock ride height for the moment and with 10" of snow on its way, it's probably a good thing that I'm sitting higher.

Hey Mike, I'm still on 20% all around. Notice something different?

Nothing changed lol, just the recent pictures looks good. I'm getting my WRX this week and am still debating on doing 20% all around or 35% sides and 20% rear.

+1 on the RCE decision. You'll probably beat me to getting them, but that's the choice i settled on when I jump the gun on suspension work. Maybe I have a chance to ride in your car to get a first hand feel before I order them
Ditto on the sti/led mirror retro. It's been on my to-do list for a while but postponed (like many other things) until i get some steady income
... got something of yours I need to give back to you!
hopefully i'll see you around!

I spent the day driving around in the snow with the stock setup and to be honest, it's completely better than the past two winters on coilovers. The softer ride took the snow so much better and the turning and sliding is so much more predictable. I was shocked when I took the images yesterday about how the ride height looked. I thought going back to stock would look like a monster truck but it was all good, I don't mind it at all.

I'm going to rock stock for the week and add the sway bars sometime before the weekend. I'd like to get a good feel for the difference on the stock setup before I switch the springs/struts.
