The increased output results from a slew of upgrades throughout the engine. The new dual-branch exhaust manifold, with six ports instead of two, improves heat management. A new piston design reduces the engine's compression ratio from 11:1 to 10.2:1.

The greatly revised engine produces higher torque at higher rpm and retains the eagerness to rev with turbine-like smoothness. Toyota projects that the new engine will reduce the Supra 3.0 model's 0-60 acceleration time to 3.9 seconds, from 4.1. The 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters carries over for 2021.

We've driven the updated 2021 Toyota Supras already, and now we know the prices for the more powerful inline-six and the new four-cylinder. The inline-six price increases by a smidge, up to $51,945, including the $955 destination charge. That's a $1,000 increase to the base model, but the Supra 3.0 Premium only increases by $500, up to $54,490. Toyota gave the 3.0 more power this year, re-tuned the suspension and added bracing, so you are getting a bit more for your dollar in 2021.

If you want the Supra 2.0, it'll be $43,945. That makes the price spread between the base 3.0 and 2.0 exactly $8,000. That's about what we predicted. We were hoping for a base price closer to the $40,000 mark, but the Supra 2.0 is still a superb sports car for $43,945. If you want the Safety and Technology package available for the 2.0, it'll be an extra $3,485. It includes a ton of equipment: adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors, the JBL audio system, Apple CarPlay and Supra Connected Services. The same package, minus some equipment, costs $3,155 on the base 3.0, while it comes as standard equipment on the 3.0 Premium. If you've already chosen the 3.0 Premium, a Driver Assist Package for $1,195 is also available.

The last new model we have pricing on is the A91 Edition Supra. That limited-edition car will cost $56,945 and be the most expensive Supra money can buy - it's only available with the 3.0-liter turbo inline-six. It's even more expensive than the Launch Edition Supra from last year, but only by $740.

The 3.0 is expected to be hitting dealerships soon, while the 2.0 won't hit the market till a little later this year, most likely in fall.

I think the price is fair at 45-47k with the inline 6 and a manual. The car is hot, the thing has solid power, handling, etc. Just needs a manual and a little bit of a price drop.

That blue is my fav for a sports car. I would buy another Miata ND RF in that colour in a heartbeat, but I'm not sold on this car.

It seems to me that they might bring out significant improvements yearly to boost sales. A manual is quite possible. This car with a manual would be a reasonable argument over the Corvette with the auto.

The 4-banger at $43k is a terrible idea without a manual. What an expensive poseur.

Agreed, $35K would be more palatable IMO, although it doesn't help that the price of the 86 twins has risen so much over the years, so $35K might be to close in terms of pricing. I think they originally came out at what, $23 or $24K? Now they are over $30K in top trim and the base starts around $27K.

People will gladly pay $43K for a 4-banger if it's a luxury car i.e. BMW or MB. Sadly although the Supra is almost all BMW (including the interior!), the badge doesn't have the same pedigree to make it worth $43K to most people because let's be real - when someone buys a 430i for $43K (which btw has less power than the Supra 2.0), they're only doing it for the badge and to show off to their pleb friends

$35k? You have to be joking me? $45k$-50k loaded is more than fair for this car. If the badging disappoints you, spend the extra $20k on a M2C.

I’m not a fan of the Supra but it certainly warrants a $45k price tag.

Because the GT86 won't be a rebadged BMW, it will be a rebadged Subaru.

If you can't see the difference between the two brands pricing structures by now, then spend a few minutes on their respective websites and spec out a couple run of the mill models; don't worry we'll still be here when you get back.

For reference the BMW Z4 2.0 is $49,700 & a 1993 non-turbo Supra was $33,900.

Pricing seems on par for the 2.0. The cheap 4 banger with 3 pedals is the 86.

Sucks you can't drive with the windows down. Stupid design flaw. Otherwise a nice car. Love that Refraction A91 edition. Normally I do not dig stripes but I actually don't hate it on this car.

I have an aversion to german car maintenance so the Zupra is out for me but I don't think the price is unreasonable (assuming they bring the 3rd pedal).

I'm getting a good laugh at the people here saying a BMW coupe on a dedicated RWD platform should be stickering at or below the price of a Civic Type R or STI which are both based on $20k compact platforms. iDrive alone is worth $1000 over the below par infotainment systems in a Civic or Impreza or even any Lexus vehicle. The ZF8 is a premium transmission that you won't find in any other car of this price. The Supra's a good value. Deal with it.
