Unhappy Bad day could use some advice

Things arent going to good for me right now. Im suppose to graduate high school at the end of the month but Im failing a class pretty bad and I may not graduate. To me its not a big deal I can go to summer school or to a tech school and make it up in a month or two but my parents are freaking out. They are bring my car in to it and they are really pushing me to the edge. They said they wouldnt have helped me get it if I wasnt going to graduate. help me? I mean s*** all they did was sign the papers. I'm paying for it. That car is my life, my dream never wanted anything as bad as that car and they are threating me with it. and Now I wish I didnt even have it. because I wouldnt be stuck with a payment and I could just walk out the door and say screw it.

Im sure you guys think Im acting immature and your prolly right but I really dont want to deal with this crap anymore. School is not for everyone, I mean I plan on graduating high school some time or another then Im going to work. They arent making things better by "grounding" me or taking my car away. They are just pissing me off even more. I really dont know what to do. I really just want to get the few things I own and walk out. Im sure I can live with a buddy of mine. I really cant take it any more. I've heard this same BS since 9th grade. Im not a very good student. Im not bad in school I just have no motivation. I've failed class all throughout high school, I've gone to summer school and this semester Im takin a class before school and I was going to night school. Im just so sick of hearing about school.

...and tonight I didnt want to go out to eat with the family bc I knew they would just sit around talk about me to my grandparents telling them how bad Im messing up blah blah and my dad goes off and was like then you can do some things around here then. going to make me work just bc I dont want to go out to eat.. its bs

well Im sorry if I wasted ur time by being a whiny a** but I just need to talk to some one get this off my cheast. see what u guys think about it and what I should do bc right now Im about ready to do something stupid

Do you think you have enough time to pull yourself out of the hole in that class? Try talking to your techer and let him/her know the situation. If they are cool, they may let you do something to help you pass (extra assignment or the likes).

Also, try talking to your parents and try to make them understand how much extra pressure they are putting on you by threatening you.

I would try those first. I was in the same boat my junior year of HS, and though my 'rents never really got over it, they did understand that they were making the situation worse by nagging me about it and threatening me.

I think right now Im going to just try to finish school. If I dont pass and I dont graduate and they take my car away Im just gonna walk out the door and live with a friend and work with him and buy my self a cheep little car then try to get my own place. that will mean no dragon tho:-(

But if they come home tonight bsing and start some s*** they might push me over board

Just work your butt off (especially in that class) and try to graduate. If you don't graduate this time, point out to them that you tried your best once you realized you weren't doing well, but there wasn't enough time to bring up your grade.

Besides, you can take the course over the summer and graduate with the next class.

1. see if you can get some assignments to make up at least some part of it to get a 'D'.

2. you're lucky your parents signed the papers for you to get that car. although you are paying for it, you would not have been able to get it without them. no one's going to give a 17-18 year old a loan that's still in highschool and making crap for money. be grateful. i had to work for my first car, i had no breaks, just a broken down piece of crap that i had to fill oil up ever 2 days.

3. stop freaking whining and get your freaking arse out of school and do some real work. if you can save up some cash and move out, they'll respect you more if you're on your own. they helped you get a car, they put a roof over your head, and put food in your stomache. cut the bull man, you're freaking blessed. some people aren't that lucky. your parents just want you to freaking finish and be over with it, that's freaking all they ask. have they told you that you have to move out on your 18th birthday yet? some friends of mine got kicked out at the ripe age of 14 and became dropouts. life is not a walk in the park for them.

Although I love my car I wish I didnt have it.. yet.. that way I could move out... car payment and insurance are puttin my down 550 a month. thats not a prob living at home but I dont wannt to live here no more!

Well Im gonna try to get out of school.. and If I fail and they take my car then I'll go to work and buy and old car and get my own place

Harry gives great advice

seriously though, he's been there and given me good advice before... Listen to him...

Don't worry man, whatever's going on in your life that sucks, just remember this... "Things can always be worse than they are"... Be thankful that you are alive everyday and treat everything else as a gift.

the marine's right. 'things can always be worse than they are.'

you could fail, move out, don't make it, become evicted, then homeless. think about it before you make your move man. don't be a dumbarse.

or you could try to tough it out, pass (hopefully), sell the car, make some loot, buy a beater, save up some more loot, then get the hell out and hopefully you'll have a steady job and some cash saved up for a rainy day. this process will probably get you out of the house by the end of the year or beginning of next year with some space to breathe.

you know what sucks? screwing up and having to go back to beg your parents to let you in the house. that's MUCH MUCH worse that what you're going through. when you leave be prepared not to come back. matter of pride dude.

Don't be too mad at your parents, they are basically just doing parent stuff.

You probably haven't done as well with school as you could have, but nobody ever does as well as they could, nobody.

Rather than this becoming a crisis, could you just look at it as a difficult time which you will get through as well as possible?

I am sure your parents love you as much as you love your car. (sorry, a little sarcasim there) Hang in there, maybe this is one of those times that you will look back on and laugh about.

your parents are putting pressure on you because they care about you. you are their little kid, the one they've had dreams and hopes for since before you were born. they are concerned and frustrated beyond their ability to communicate it rationally. so it prolly comes out as anger directed towards you. you get defensive and pissed off about it and it just escalates.

talk to them. really talk. don't let it escalate into an argument. understand where they are coming from and what is upsetting them. that means listening to them. and you need to tell them what you want. you may not even know. ask them what they want for you. i'd bet that they want to see some initiative and assertiveness from you. yes, the "R" word;

"Responsibility". i absolutely hated it when i was a 17. but later, i learned to love it. cuz with it, comes freedom. but it takes initiative to earn. and sometimes you have put up with situations that you don't like - to get what you want. demonstrate some responsibility and you'd be amazed how they'd respond.

figure out what you want and do what it takes to achieve it.

i don't mean to beat up on you at all. you sound like a pretty sharp guy. and what you are going through is absolutely normal. you will get through it and will be better for it.

good luck and hang in there.

Stick with it, work your ass off and do whatever you need to to get done with school. go to college...yes, it's for everyone.

high school was the huge suckage for me too. I really wasn't sure if I wanted to tech school it or do something a bit more challenging.

looking back, I'm glad my parents rode me as hard as they did. (I'm 29 now, college grad, BMW and Porsche owner, I have no kids, a great wife and house, and lots of toys)

Trust me...that poster is right...there is justification for higher education.

Be inspired, the world CAN be yours...but it's not easy.

how bout instead of sneaking out, you sit your ass at a desk and study? How about doing something other than wasting your time on here. I dicked around in one of my required classes for graduation and almost wouldn't have graduated. You need to motivate yourself, noone else is going to do it for you. I figure keeping your car would have been enough motivation, but apparently for you it's not. I was never down w/ the whole school thing, but man, why blow off the rest of your school year and then drag it out across summer school? that's ridiculous. Get it done and get out.

ive only got a bachelors and all i can say is that the more degrees you have, the better the quality of life. you know what to do. even if you dont want to. this BS about finishing school sometime or another has to go. do it now or once you start making a little money you wont want to.

ditto... I'm stuck w/o a college degree now since I missed my chance. I have a decent job but still. No degree = not much out there for you that pays worth anything.

I'm not trying to bust your chops or anything Andy... just look at it from a long term standpoint. Pull everything together. Noone's going to agree w/ you that intentionally failing a class and then not graduating is a good thing.

So, how long is your car financed for? Are you going to have to live with your parents for the next six years so that you can continue to make your insurance and your car payments? Are you really at all surprised by this situation. I have an overwhelming sense of de ja vu about this topic with you.

Not trying to break your balls, but now is the time to buckle down, finish high school, get yourself into a trade school or college and prep for life on your own. You got yourself setup to make that transition a lot harder now with the relatively large financial committment to your car, but it can be done. I wouldn't plan on having much time for fun. You gonna be working your ass off to do it all.

remember me

Yeah, how long is your car financed for? Surely you haven't financed a car for 60 months...

I have to say, just sit your ass down and study as hard as you can for next few weeks and do everything in your power to get the hell out of high school. If you have to go to summer school, oh well, but don't give up! Whatever the case, apply to either a college or tech school AS SOON AS YOU CAN. Try Macon State or Macon Tech, they'll just about take anyone. I can help you get into Macon State, all you have to do is ask me. Do well there and go somewhere better in a year or two. The mentality, "I'm tired of high school, I want to take a break and get a job for a while" costs too much time and money over the long run. Get your ass to college, get your ass out of college, and get a real, honest-to-god life. Oh, and if the financial burden of the Subaru is preventing this from happening, GET RID OF IT. It's just a damn car, don't put your life on hold for something so petty.

63 months and 61 to go. . .

Im gonna try to get out of school on time. Im gonna beg the hell out of my teacher to let me make up my work.

Right now I have a full time job lined up for when I get out. I am also learning (slowly) this engineering software to design tools and part on the computer. My dad Started his own business a few years ago and its really about to take off and he wants me to work for him.

If a learn that software I can make some pretty good cheese

Just right now I gotta graduate school so I can go to the Dragon

well I hear you on the summer school thing, but really... do you want to be one of those people that doesn't get to go through the big graduation ceremony? Think about how disappointed your parents would be if they don't get to go to your graduation (at least not the "nice" one).

Most teachers should cut you some slack if you actually make the effort to try and fix your mistakes. Mine did and I graduated when I was supposed to (I had decent grades in high school, cept I did what you did and screwed around in one of the BS classes that are required for graduation *grumble* community service).

Just think about it: A little over 2 weeks of HIGHSCHOOL left.

I'm right there with ya. I'm a senior this year also. If I were in your shoes, then I'd be pulling every string I could and WORKING as hard as I could to graduate on time.

You can do it. You've been through almost 4 years of highschool so far, 2 weeks aint that long (haha, my grammar class certainly didnt teach me anything! )

yea Im gonna try to pull together and get out of there. Really just depends on if the teacher is going to help me out bc there is no way for me to bring my grade to passing with out her working some magic in the grade book or letting me make up some work that I didnt do.

I really hope she does bc me graduating depends on if I keep my car and if I go to the dragon..
