Default Update (7/21/02

Ok, man i am really surprised this year at the level of responce from the whole subaru community, i got people askins for fiberglass RS stuff for thier GL's to SVX's. And everyone asking the same question, How many people do we have.

At this point we have

4 people for the 90-91 Fiberglass hood with RS scoop and vents.

and

5 people for the 90-91 Fiberglass 2001 RS Bumperskin
(DON"T START ASKING..STOP)

The reason i haven't started asking about taking money for the bumpers as of yet is i still have 4-5 people Interested in various parts, they are still up in the air about commiting, I'm on like 3 diferant message boards and this mailing group and i get like 4-5 e-mails a day over this..so at this point takeing you money now only to find out the price will drop a day from now will be stupid. What i will do is make a CUT OFF for the end of this month if that is agree able with the following interested.

Shariff Miftahittin" <[email protected]>
David Carter <[email protected]> GO
The Allsmans <[email protected]>
shemeryahu" <[email protected]>
Dan <[email protected]>

E-mail me If you are GO (i.e have the money and are waiting on me), or are NO GO (i.e need a week or month to get the money) so that i can extend the deadline.

Those of the 4 interested in the hood, don't worry we're one away, i will soon be asking you the same questions.

The good news is we still have 4-5 people iffy at this point. so we could easily pick up one or two people.

Any questions let me know at [email protected]

Default I am definitely

interested in the bumper. I'm sending you an e-mail. But I have a question in reference to the post here. Why wont these parts work on 90-94s instead of just 90-91s?
the black car is at least a 92 judging by the headlights.

edit: Does anybody know the TIRE size that is on the black Legacy above?

Im sending an email as well.

I have a few questions. I can tell if your post was too detailed and confused me or if I just missed something.

Basically, for 285 or less could I get a hood like in the picture that includes all the hardware? My confusion comes from the posting of the prices for the new hood, scoop and such.

I assume these are not painted any color.

It seems from the image that you do not need pins. Is this the case? Is the hood rigid enough not to "flap" at speed?

What parts must be transferred from the old hood? I assume the hinges and latch. Do all the rubber seals transfer over? If I wanted to put the insulation back on could I?

I think your post is not descriptive enough. Realize that not all of us visit the other forums so we know literally nothing.

Default yep

Id like some closer pics to, esp where the bumper cover meets the front fenders.

And what did you gus do with the front turn signals?

And not that the price is unreasonable at all, but why didn't you guys save the mold from the first run of bumpers instead of remaking a new one?

Thanx subysouth

The BC-BF year are the only years the car came turbo. In between the 90-94 years there was a minor body change makeing many of the part non-interchangeable. SO 90-91 was the gen 1 body style 92-94 was the rounder body style. STill this dosen't stop people from converting MY conversions over to the 92-94.

Shoot, ask away

"Basically, for 285 or less could I get a hood like in the picture that includes all the hardware?"

The hood is one peice, so you get all the hard ware. Everything else is already on your car.

" My confusion comes from the posting of the prices for the new hood, scoop and such."

What is the confusion? it's pretty clear.

"I assume these are not painted any color."

Yes very true.

"It seems from the image that you do not need pins. Is this the case? Is the hood rigid enough not to "flap" at speed?"

The hood will constucted with kevlar strips thru-out. It will be stong enough to support the weight of a "normal" indavidual if it were to be sat on. Personally i recomend hood pins from a safety point of view. You don't need them, but in an accident a metal hood bents and contorts. A fiberglass hood will shatter, so hood pins are a good idea.

"What parts must be transferred from the old hood? I assume the hinges and latch. Do all the rubber seals transfer over? If I wanted to put the insulation back on could I? "

actually the hood and latch shouldn't have to removed from the car, i've taken my hood off, at the hood it's 4 bolts if i remember correctly. The hood is copied egzactly from an original 90-91 turbo hood everything is interchangeable. i'm not sure about the insulation, but i know a couple guys have been putting dynamat up.

"I think your post is not descriptive enough. Realize that not all of us visit the other forums so we know literally nothing."

Actually this has really only been offered on the BC-BF mailing list for the last 3 years. By the request of those on the list that i go to these other forums (i.e USMB,i-club, BYBSMB).

Good eye's, The RS/ Ver.5/6 WRX Bumper covers are shorter than the legacy bumper covers. and have to be modified to match the wheel well and fender

"And what did you gus do with the front turn signals?"

All you get is the bumper Cover.. you will need everything that goes ONTO the bumper cover i.e lights, grillwork, RS style lights. SO turn signals to fit the RS bumper need to be purchaced and wired in.

"And not that the price is unreasonable at all, but why didn't you guys save the mold from the first run of bumpers instead of remaking a new one?"

I said this has been offered for 3 years now, I never said we've gotten into production. We (those on the BC-BF list) have been wanting thses parts for a long time and i've been the one to find the company and bring the group the price. BUT we haven't been able to keep 5 or more for each part becasue of work loss or the holiday season comes up and people money gets diverted elsewhere. So going to the forums is a way for us to get more people that would normally not hear of this deal. Any fiberglass that has been done has been research to get to the point we are now.

Like i said i'm an open book, ask and i shall answer.

Thanx subysouth

the replies David.

If I might aska few more:

edit:missed a post above deleting two questions

1. So the bumper above on the black Legacy was not bought through this molding process? Is it a one-off custom mod?

2. What is the e-mail address of the person with the excellent black Legacy above, if you don't mind me asking? I would like to ask them a few questions directly if I could.

3. What about some closer pics? Is there another site we could go to to see them?

Thanks for all the info its sounding good.

Default Update (7/25/02)

Ok Things are moving along steadly. The number of those with questions and or unsure are slowly being added or removed. so it will be soon.

So far the time for money collection has been pushed back to LATE August. As thats the latest date one of those who are GO could come up with their money. Unless i get new information we'll start exchangeing shipping info then.

So as of now these are our interested and those who are GO:

RS Hood
Sam & Beth Barrett" <LEVATHIAN@>
Shariff Miftahittin" <Shariff@> GO
David Carter <Bussaca@> GO
The Allsmans <theallsman5@>
"Peter Hadfield" <alundra1@> GO

RS Bumper
Shariff Miftahittin" <Shariff@>GO
David Carter <Bussaca@> GO
The Allsmans <theallsman5@>
shemeryahu" <shemaryahu@>
Dan <INCEv@>

If your one of the interested listed here E-mail me and let me know when you'll be ready to GO.

What have i been up to. Well i just don't sit here and write e-mails I'm putting up a web page for the fiberglass that way you guys will be able to SEE whats going on. Also i went down to A.B.E yesterday, Bill was mighty busy so we breifly talked, we will SIT down and really make sure our math is correct and see what #'s he can shave off or add that way we can get the exzact price, so that there are no e-mails later saying we came up short. He sent me away with some home work, he wanted all the dimentions of the RS bumper again just not my SQ footage totals. I had lost those a long time ago so a couple calls around to the dealerships in my area and Faulkner Subaru Had an 2001 RS bumper in stock. So i went on down with my tape measure and got that info. In the next couple days we will be getting all our math to match so you have all the right info.

I will be taking some pictures and putting them up on the webpage, so you can have something to follow along with.

Then restate them for me, so many posts.

1. So the bumper above on the black Legacy was not bought through this molding process? Is it a one-off custom mod?

Thats right, he had it done himself. Since he's on the BC-BF list he shared and info he had to further the fiberglass situation along.

2. What is the e-mail address of the person with the excellent black Legacy above, if you don't mind me asking? I would like to ask them a few questions directly if I could.

Let me ask him if it's ok and i will be more than glad to give you his e-mail

3. What about some closer pics? Is there another site we could go to to see them?

will do. you could join the BC-BF yahoo groups mailing list and you would have acsess to all the photo's

Thanks for all the info its sounding good.

Any Return or warranty info?

The hoods you will be making this time do not have vents, only the fully formed scoop right?

Other than these questions Ill say Im GO.

Ciper at Hotmail dot Com

edit: oops, +50 shipping. deleted price question

I hope some more jump in on this, it will only get cheaper now! He has 6 including me. This cheaper then a legacy turbo hood, plus the scoop is better.

6 people: 210 each
7 people 191 each

That means if everyone currently listed and myself is really in then the price is currently 260$ shipped!

Default clearification

Any Return or warranty info?

Hmm, good question i will get back to the group on that. You are investing in a project to make RS bumpers For the 90-91 model year, for your investment your return is a bumper that will fit your car. The only Gaurrentee i have made is A: it will be an RS bumper copy, and B: it will BOLT up with out modifiaction, useing stock 90-91 components. If either of those things are not true upon delivery you will get your money back.

The hoods you will be making this time do not have vents, only the fully formed scoop right?

No, it is a fiber hood with both vents and a scoop

Other than these questions Ill say Im GO.

Ciper at Hotmail dot Com

in the U.S.A.

I hope some more jump in on this, it will only get cheaper now! He has 6 including me. This cheaper then a legacy turbo hood, plus the scoop is better.

I'm gonna say YES to the price as of this moment. If you read my last post, me and A.B.E are going to sit down and just make sure we're BOTH on the same page on cost. My prices and info are a year and a half old. SO untill we do a really in-depth cost write up these are the estimated prices as of now, correct..

Also just a note my old RS Bumper price is WRONG actually old. i listed the Stock RS bumper at 240.00 that is as of last year. This year Faulkner Subaru Dealership quoted me at 214.99 so that will be a price drop of at least 25+ bucks.

two up-dates.

1st: the stock RS bumper price has gone down. Faulkner Subaru quotes it's price at $214.00 so thats a $25+ savings right there. Just FYI.

And everyone from the hood is GO.

RS Hood
Sam & Beth Barrett" <LEVATHIAN@> GO
Shariff Miftahittin" <Shariff@> GO
David Carter <Bussaca@> GO
The Allsmans <theallsman5@>GO
"Peter Hadfield" <alundra1@> GO
B S" <ciper@> GO

Thats six with a seventh still on the way.. this is awsome.
the bumper we're just waiting on 2 others.

Thats all.

Also Cost saving measures.. If anybody knows of any places we can get parts cheaper than i've quoted for parts let me know. every penny counts.

At this point everything is comeing from dealership. so if you see vents online for cheaper than i've listed let me know.

Default Update (8/14/02) official

Well yesterday i got back from A.B.E.. the WHOLE big hold up

was way wrong and they corrected my math. So as of now let me
tell you the Final egzact #'s

For the Turbo Hood with Scoop and vents:

$336.00 New 91 Legacy Hood
$67.00 Ver. 4, 5 & 6 Bonnet Scoop

6 people: $1859.00/ $309.83
7 people $2003.00/ $286.14
8 people $2147.00/$268.37

down because of drop-outs. You are more than willing to come in
but the price will not go lower.. we are only 2 weeks from the
Deadline which is the 30th of august and to make all those who are GO cancel checks and resend a check everytime we get another person would be mean. just a note money that isn't used will be sent back.

Whether you are in for the Hood or Bumper Please let me know the following.

1. Real Names.. (for some of you i only have abbreviations or
nicks. even if your name is your e-mail send it again)
2.Shipping address (where do you want this sent to)
3. Contact info ( if i need to contact you how do i, by phone?, what #)
Whether or Not You are GO or NO-GO with the current prices.

Warrantee: If your part is NOT what you asked for whether it be. a Hood with scoops and vents or a RS bumper send it back and i
will give you your money back. This applies for damages during
shipping. Also the only promise i gave was that these parts will
install using factory pieces and mounts with little or no
modification. if this is not true contact me and we will arrange a
return. I do not warrantee damages during installation. I will not
accept returns on the basis that you car is the wrong year.. THIS
HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED THAT THESE PARTS ARE FOR 90-
91.. not 92-94.. i do not promise any kind of bolt up fitment with
any other year.

A.B.E Recommends that you have these installed as a qualified
bodyshop as they will be able to fit/sand/trim for installation. He
also again recommends the use of hood pins just for encase.

If you have any questions feel free to ask publicly or in private.. i wear
my life on my collar..

P.S There WILL be a fiberglass page.. I'm still working on it.. but
as of now there's nothing to put up.. maybee an FAQ..that way i
don't have to type the same answers over and over.. hehehe

I still will probably get this but thats quite a jump in the price from what was originally posted. The positive parts are 63 dollars more.

The price for the hood on 7 purchases was 191 but now its 286. Thats an increase of 150%. It might be hard for people to accept such a large increase.

It looks like from the list that we might have 10 people interested. The current price is higher than that of the original qoute with only 5 purchasers.

Still though, even 286 is a good price on a new hood with a nice scoop. With shipping this will be 326.

I understand that.. I messed up with my math.. i didn't calculate AREA corectly and thus the small mold and part prices.. If sone one leaves i will not stop em, i hope thay can find a hood or bumper for under 400 for their car.

I have to pay these cost as well, i'm a security gaurd.. i don't make much.. so any increase hurts my pocket as well.. I still have to eat packageing and any little problems that might come up.
