Default 04-07 wrx/sti ps pump w/ 93' impreza rack issue

Hello,

I've recently swapped out my 1993 impreza power steering pump with a 04-07 sti/wrx pump while still using a 1993 impreza rack in known good working order. To complement the swap I'm using the chase bays ps kit that includes AN fittings and lines with corresponding adapters at the pump and rack. The kit aslo includes a baffled external reservoir.

The issue: The steering is not feeling the same from the original 1993 configuration. It's much stiffer. I've had the car on stands moving from lock to lock for 10min. And when at full lock the wheel does not return to center, it will stay at the locked position left or right.
I started this reconfigured by purchasing remanufactured pumps from the parts store, 3 in total, and with a history of issues with reman parts I assumed this was my issue. I ended up purchasing a new oem pump with still no avail to the issue.
The original 1993 pump, hard lines, and rack move the wheel effortlessly and return the wheel towards center. I've reverted back the 1993 system and all works well.
The new system has no leaks, the lines are in correct orientation, the system seems bled as there are no bubbles in the reservoir or noise commonly associated from the pump when air is still present.

I'm not certain the compatibility of the 04-07 pump with 1993 rack but in a previous experience on my 93 Tlegacy I swapped a 02' wrx pump and made my own AN lines with fittings and all worked great.

Looking for some insight here, and appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
