There isnt going to be any other price breakpoint? Like say we get 11 people? Im still in.

The price will continue to drop. internally. if we actually get 11 people i will figure for 11 people.. the cap will still be at 8. you will recive money back.. Any cash not used because of overbudget, or aditional people will be split and sent back.

Everyone pays the same, gets the same.. no one makes out more than anyone else.. why should i make you pay for 8 and then 2 weeks from now since (hypotheticly) we got 13 i make some one else pay less.....

I hope i'm makeing sence.. if you can get everyone to agree to cancel sent checks and resend everytime we get a new person feel free.

Allright, thats the part I didnt understand fully. Very cool of you to do it that way. I see that it would make it easier than changing the price by a dollar here and there every day!

BTW, I just today joined the BC-BF legacy group.

Wow,

I haven't been around this forum for awhile, so this is the first time I've seen this thread. I guess I would say I'm a potential buyer for the hood, save a little more info:

Does anyone know for CERTIAN that this hood would fit a '93? Also, what might be the cost of getting a decent paint job on something like this? I don't know much about body work or model year compatability, so any help is much appreciated.

Let's get the price down on this thing... the more the merrier!!!

A bit late there but always willing to help..deadline is august 31st just fyi.

Quote:

I do.. it CERTAINLY WILL NOT FIT.. these part are being made for the 89-91 model years.. after that the body styleing changed the base frame stayed the same but the support metal and body work changed.. the reason you can swap motors but not lights and panels..

the Bumper also will not fit directly.. you will have to have a body shop modify it to get it to fit the diferances between a 91-93
But it's not the stretch from a 93 to 2001

I hope this helps.. do not be discuraged.. if all goes with out a hitch with this run.. NEXT year my plans are to do the same for the 92-94 turbo so i expect. to have ALOT of responce.. as i get alot of disheartend 92-94 owners i've had to turn away..

also....*drumrolling* it's not offical yet but for all the 80's gl/dl/rx owners i plan on doing the same..

Well, that's too bad, but thanks for the info. That would be great if you do end up doing a 92-94 mold following a successful run here.

You can keep me on the list for those interested for next year. If you're taking email adresses, here's mine so you can drop me a line if it ever takes shape.

Thanks for all your efforts. I am not gonna be involved in this run for a couple of reasons: fitment issues on my 94 and a new 97 to contend with.

The 94 is not going far tho, so if you do get a mold for the bumper on the 92-94s I may be in.

I dont think i saw my name on the confirmed list but I had e-mailed you, so just a heads up.

Thanks again

I am very interested in a direct replacement hood scoop for a 92' legacy turbo. all i want is the hood scoop. I don't want to cut anything. Is it possible to fabricate a fiberglass ''impreza sized'' hood scoop that is a direct replacement for my small hood scoop.

how much would it be?
thanks

I here JC whitney has some cheap ass scoops you should be able to slap something on..

I'm sure i can ask A.B.E. what the cost of a scoop will be.. and i Will get back to you all on it.. but lets not forget were not fabricateing anything from scratch here.. were takeing exsisting parts and makeing them fit and makeing a mold from it.. I'm sure A.B.E. will be able to make one.. but i don't know what it'd look like.

And in all honesy the modifying of the hood takes the brain of a 14 yr old, a dremel and a peice of traceing paper.. and maybee 15-20 mins and it fits like it was suposed to be there.. i picked up my 2.5RS scoop for 76 bucks from a fello RS owner... can't go wrong..i'm sure you can do the same..

sorry about what i wrote in my first sentence. i have a bad habit of voicing my opinions when they don't need to be heard. anyway, lets start fresh. oh, and i know that modifying the hood is not difficult, but i am still hesitant about doing it. it is kinda like all or nothing. please check it out and let us know.
thanks bussaca

Default my most recent correspondence

Here is an e-mail I sent and the responce I received.
I still haven't received our rally car hood scoop back or the fibreglass hood?

Fiberglass hood & bumper group buy site -http://www.pureyiff.com/bussaca/fiberglass.htm

sent 6-8-03
This is taking much longer than I had expected.
Is anything happening? I sold the Legacy Sport that I bought the parts for? I'd like the parts or a refund.

P.S. - David can you please send the hood scoop from my rally car back.

Eric Eaton - (253) 229-8092

responce 6-8-03
This is Jonathan. Acctually I was just checking the hood to see if it sat ok on
the car as well as taking pictures of it to post for you guys and then I was
gonna have them shipped off and start on the bumpers. Since I don't need it
any more I can most deffinately send you your scoop back. I'll have that out to
you this week.

Jonathan Clauss

PS. Dave will be back on the 28th of this month.

another responce 6-23-03
Well, you've waited, rather paitently I might add. Here's the new
pics of the fiberglass hood. The only thing that needs fixin is the
front, basically there are 2 rubber stops that prevent your hood from
hitting your car and we didn't account for those. The guy from ABE
fixed it and is making hoods as you read this. We'll cutting out the
vents, drilling and tapping the screw holes as soon as we get them.
Again, thanks for being paitent.

Hello everyone...

Q:OK, why has it taken me so long to get back to everyone...
A: I just got back July 27th and i'm tring to reassemble whats left of my life..

I could go on about job loss and other personal problems.. and boo hoo you into the next century.. but all you guys who have paid for hoods and bumpers want to know is where are my "Mother F@*&ing hoods and bumpers i paid for"

When i got home most of anything that had to do anything with the fiberglass had been sitting from when i left.. and as far as minor work jon had done or minor responces from jon.. Jon wasen't proactive at all with the hoods.. I'm not going to blame jon though i should have had these done before i left.. i apologise.. so i'll try to answer any questions here.. and yes my e-mail [email protected]... has been down for some while.. Last e-mail i made was to Eric Eaton about a refund because he sold his legacy.which i haven't gotten a resonce to..as my mail is down..

Honestly i have to call him and settle things out..

Most of the mail was conserneing those interested about getting in on the group buy NOW.. and not when it started.. And all i can say is unfortunately no.. those who got in at the begining are those who get the group buy price.. If you do want a hood you'll have to wait till all the original group buy owners have gotten their parts.. and whats left over can be bought by indaviduals.. but as of this time i do not have a price for you... i haven't even gotten that far.. but there will be a number of hoods left over.. as we've had drop outs..

the rest of you, most of you group buy owners ask "Why the wait..?"

Mostly Uncle Sam wouldn't let me go.. i was supposed to just go thru Basic training/AIT and ended up getting deploied at graduation with my reserve unit, only to stay in Kosovo for 3 months, to come home..running a group buy is next to impossiable from over seas..with all my paperwork and resourses here.. I'M SORRY I'M SORRY!!..but i'm sorrys do make hoods... so where am I...

Why the wait.. Honestly 10 hoods have been made.. Jon had 10 hoods made while I was gone.. and i went to pick up them up when i got back as they had been sitting a while.. When i got there they were messed up.. not by the fiberglas guy, but by jon.. The hood themselves are spectacular and i did not expect the quaility of the finish that was reprodused.. But the problem was jon had set the hood scoop RAISED off the hood about 1/4 inch all around with clay..when he.. well honestly i don't know what he did.. i mounted the scoop before i left.. i sent pictures with the scoop on.. But somewhere along the line jon removed the scoop..for some reason..and then put it back on..with a riser.. it looks bad.. and it's lop sided... It dosen't matter what it was.. it's not what you paid for.. So at this moment CORRECTED hoods are being fabricated..

and i know you've heard this before..

But you should be recieveing your hoods sometime late next month...
and directly after the bumpers.. WHICH SHOULD NOT BE SO LONG!!! it simpler than the hoods.. no cutting, nothing.. all we do is modify the mounting points and make a mold.. so the bumpers should go much better..and faster.. you should have your bumpers right in time for Christmas..honestly..

Pictures.. a couple of you want pictures... let me get my mail situation resolved and i'll get right to that..

Again i apologise about the wait.. There is no excuse for this wait.. and honestly only subaru owners could be this paitent..

OH...and news and updates..

Last person that paid.. was Micum for a hood and bumper.. so that makes eveyone who was not paid... paid. I know Micum you sent that a LONG time ago.. but i just found out..i saw extra cash in the account and i knew i didn't put it there.. jon showed me your letter and copy of your check.. so all is good for you..you just have to wait.....

We've found that just drilling and tapping directly into fiberglass for the mounting areas of the hood is enought to get the job done..but we don't forsee this being something longterm...and reliable so were inserting metal threaded sleves which whould make your mounting more stable and reliable..

Hood Pins..were a past issue... honestly they are a good idea for motorsports apllications but these hoods are so strong and rigid that hood pins would only be decoration for anything less than full out racing..

Heat damage.. also not a problem.. i had originally thought that these hoods would be thin, but they are not..if your turbo is that big you slag a hood i'll surprised..it's hard to burn. Again Fire retardant sheets can be applied to the hoods.. but for anything less than full out racing it will be a waste.. ABE recomends that if it is a major consern to put a patch of Fire retardant material over the area of the turbo/turbos on the underside of the hood.

Professional Installation: These group buy hoods will be bolt on.. but i recomend seriously that unless you are a body shop technician or just putting them on for race application and do not care what they look like to have a PRO body shop install.. Why? As good as i'd like to tought the quality of these hoods, if there is any sanding or fitting issues a Body shop is going to be better suited for exzact fitting, look and finish.

Whats in the future..: Not much..I've pretty much ruined any reputation i could have had in fiberglass parts by taking a year over order to get the parts to thier owners..

If i ever do hoods again they will be with 22B replica vents.. as i hate having to DREMEL out all the honey combs in the 2001 RS vents by hand... and there are no honey combs in 22b vents..

ABE informs me that they can lay carbon fiber....believe me i'm looking into it.. but i don't see it happening to soon..

I will be tring to buy a 92-94 GT in the coming year so you should see these hoods coming for those years..unless someone wants to donate a 92-94 hood.. it'll have to wait for me to chop up mine..

I'll be doing something for the 80's owners of the world briefly

Once i get the look alike hoods out (i.e they look like 2.5 rs hoods) i'm going to be doing hoods that are unconventional.. EVO vents. inverted reverse scoops.. and massively modded hoods.. but..lets not get ahead of ourselves.. i just want to get the first batch out of here..

And i won't be doing group buys again..anytime soon.. you'll just have to wait fo me to come out with stuff.. i proboly won't hear any arguments..as i seem to be bad at group buys.

Thank you for your patients and your time..

A couple things.

A.B.E. Just finished the first CORRECT hood today, so as soon as i inspect it for defects or problems, i will give him the go ahead to knock out the rest.. Then i will start shipping ASAP.. no delays anymore.

Bumpers will happen Imediately after when i pick up the hoods i'll be dropping off the bumper and my wagon so that he can get started.

Expect bumpers to be shipped before christmas..hopefully i can make it my christmas present to you guys for the paitents you've all had.

Eric Eaton, I will send your scoop and refund out this week. i just needed to get paid first.

...PSPSPS..

BAD HOODS: Ok we all know jon messed up the scoop. and this anouncement really dosen't apply to the group buy.. but i have 9 BAD Hoods I will be calling "RACE HOODS"..

Now there is actually nothing wrong with them physically, but apperance wise they have a 1/4 inch rise around the hood scoop., they'll pass the 50ft rule(i.e they'll look good at 50 ft away). But for race hoods they are lighter, than stock, strong as stock. the hood scoop is open but the vents are AS IS. if you want to make the vents functional either dremel out all 221 honeycombs by hand like i have to do on each Group-buy hood (labor of love people!), or just cut out the vents completely and screw in some wire grillwork you can pick up at any parts store.

All factory mountings are retained as well as the factory windshield sprayers.

For racing all that would be need at the least.. is bolt up and race. Hood pins not being a requirement..but are suested for racing applications.

If you want more of a finished look i would recomend a profestionall Auto body shop for exsact fitting/finish.

If you can't already tell i can't spell worth ****..deal..please bear with me.

Price for these "Race hoods" will be $300.00 flat..

!HEY, WAIT DAVID, ISEN'T THAT PRICE HIGHER THAN THE GROUP BUY PRICE?

Well yes it is..should have gotten in on the group-buy...

Shipping? yes there is shipping how much is it... I don't know yet.. i haven't priced that out yet.. but i know i won't be eating that cost.. hell if your in the area you can come buy any pick em up.

For those on the group-buy who paid your shipping and handleing or who haven't, i still honor the 50 dollar S&H per part cost i quoted.. if it's more, i will eat it..

If your interested in buying a "Race Hood" e-mail me at:
