Default question to those w/ spherical endlinks

I bought the Poltec spherical endlinks and after all was said and done with installing and torquing, the endlinks still have a bit of "play" on them. If I grab them, I can jiggle them back and forth and if i jiggle all the way to the left on the passenger side, the link clangs against the rear sway bar - the driver side moves a bit also but manages not to hit against the bar (BTW i installed a Helix 22mm adjustable bar also).. Is this normal?? I centered the links and took a drove around and checked again and they really didn't move so I am not too concerned they will hit the bar but there is always a possibility. Should I be worried for the long run?

This type of movement is normal for our links (and I suspect that this is also a case for other brands). Simply adjust them so that they do not interfere with sway bar and you should be fine.

P.S.
Sorry for the late responce, but I just noticed your question in the other thread.

"play" as in it feels like the entire endlink just jiggles around as if the bolt isn't tight enough...

-or-

you can swing the endlink back and forth on the bearing?

The first one is not good, the second one is normal.

Yeah, my car experiences the Second type of movement.

These endlinks rock, btw.

Just installed new Poltec endlinks and they do the same thing, which I believe is making a clunking noise over bumps and in cornering. Is there any way to reduce the noise?

I have them installed with the Progress rear adjustable sway, so the directions that came with the links didn't work quite right, because the Progress bar fits on the outside of the links, not to the inside like most other bars (i think). I think the way i have them installed will work though. Can take a picture of it if needed to show what I mean.

Just wanted some input to see what others thought.
thanks,
John

Progress and Perrin bars usually go on the outside. The clunking is usually the bar hitting the exhaust, sometimes remedied by installing hardened exhaust hangers (i.e. Kartboy). The clunk usually isn't from the endlinks.

I don't think the bar is hitting the exhaust, though I could be wrong. I wasn't getting the noise when I had the stock endlinks on, just started yesterday after installing the Poltec links. It also seems to mainly come from the right rear of the car.

little thread resurrection, i recently picked up a set of adjustable poltec endlinks used along with a perrin rear bar, i get the exact same noise, right rear clunking, after checking it out, there is a small mark on both endlinks where their hitting the lower mounting position, seems to be from the bar shifting back and forth, been told that some hose clamps will help hold the bar in place and stop the clunking, if your still having the problem, might be worth trying

I ran the STi spherical endlinks (part of the 6-piece links package) on my WRX wagon, and they weren't loose, and didn't clunk.

On the newer Hotchkis H/D ball-joint endlinks, there is 0 play.
