Default JRTUNED and Prime Motoring= Classy.

So I was dealing with erratic driving characteristics on my 18 WRX. I did some more research on here and other sites and came upon Prime Motoring and JR. 35 minutes from where I live, I said ok lemme take the plunge, JR is a huge name, Iím sure they do good work.

I went there for a re-tune with an addition of a PW VertiCooler...and the owner Demetri explained how restrictive the stock exhaust is and my best bet for a worthwhile visit would be to come back with a j-pipe.

After mulling over the decision, I decided to go with an Invidia catless j pipe, and IAG TGV deletes...essentially now a ďStage2+Ē tune.

Prime did the work really fast.

JR loaded me up in the dyno and called me over to talk about my wants and needs. Down to earth, awesome dude. JR and the owner allowed me up on the dyno, I watched JR adjust the map, and he showed me all the areas he was going to fix from my previous tune which would allow for better drive ability.

Needless to say he didnít stop until it was perfect. Fast forward about two hours and my car was done. Final is 322whp and 309tq on 18-19psi. Iím new to NASIOC so I canít post attachments, but as soon as I can graphs and photos will be up.

mods:
GS intake
Invidia catless Jpipe
GS ebcs
TS EGR Delete
IAG TGV delete
PW verticooler
93 octane

At first the car was making a ton more torque and a few more hp, it JR turned it down for the sake of reliability.

If anyone lives in the NY NJ PA CT areas, I highly recommend Prime and JR. The car drives like itís 100% stock until you want it to rip!!

how did you make 322 whp on 18 to 19 psi on pump gas when the WRX stock boost can hit 20 psi sometimes?

Stock WRX boost target is around 15.9 if i remember correctly. It only spikes to 20ish on occasion. Essentially running a steady 18-19psi is considered a boost increase.

With added timing because of intercooler and upgraded parts...322awhp on a mustang dyno

Good stuff. I hear nothing but great things about this shop and tuner. They also hold the fastest stock turbo FA WRX record.

Thats my problem, I usually change so much at once that i need a base tune to even start it up. and I have heard of them but its a 5+ hour drive. Im not a big fan of group tunes as i feel those sessions to be rushed so all 30 people can be squeezed in over a weekend. Had an issue like this and would never group tune again

I can agree with you about a group tune. On my previous ride I did that and I was in an out in 20 minutes. Hadda go back the next weekend lol.

Iím glad you understand, I tunes with another renowned subaru tuner and my car felt slower after the 30 minutes he sat in my car and when I went for a test run and came back and said it feels slower than my previous two and he said it would be an extra $200 to retune and that for me was the last straw with group tunes. I am more than willing to give Junior a chance I just wish I lived up near his shop for that fall one on one tuning experience dial everything in. Youíre so lucky to be so close to him

Just Incase your interested Iím almost 100% sure he does the whole e-tuning thing...even tho Iíd always rather be on a dyno...but Iíve been tuned two times by another guy who is big in the subie world and the car always had issues no matter what, to the point where it was undriveable over 60mph. So with that being said Iíd take a shot at the etune with him. Maybe if he sees this he can chime in

Ive asked before and he would only send a base tune due to complexity of the mods. understandable. Oh well just sucks for me lol

Iíve been a part of, and seen numerous group tunes with Jr. at Machines Gone Wild, in Miami. No matter your time slot, he takes his time regardless. And the people apart of the group tune usually understand that. His customers usually turn his group tunes into a nice small meet when heís in town.

I ran a Jr tune on my Ď11 wrx for about a year and a half. Without any revisions. And that was right before he stopped doing road tunes.

His group tunes are legit, and he knows what heís doing. Donít hesitate to join the next one when it pops up in the SoFloSubies group on FB.

My only advice, is listen to his advice. Lol.

been in that group, glad i left.
Wait now he doesnít do road tunes?? Christ. And yea i dont like the group tunes since my experience was completely different than yours. I almost signed up and then there were issues trying to make that happen. Id love a tune from him but not on a dyno or with a line behind me of people that still meed to be tuned. Im probably going to have to pay an arm and a leg to have a private road tune from him. If thats even possible

Default Hey Guys

Yes JR Tunes with us at DRP now... just to clarify a few things

First a base map is no problem, once you have payed a deposit, and are on the list, i will email you a basemap ASAP if you need it to drive the car

Second, we approach group tunes a bit differently at DRP...

We have everyone for the day show up at the same time.. and we start tuning. Cars are not allotted time slots, the car is on the dyno, until it is done, no rushing, no shortcutting, if the car takes longer, we work later that day, end of story

If i can help in any way, shoot me a PM

Thank you rick! I hear you, just dont want to blow another transmission on a Dyno so im not doing a dyno tune. 3 so far and all were months after road tune was completed and boom on dyno. As for group tunes, i Would like to know that im getting tuned and not going to have to come back next day because ďx y zĒ took too long and stuff like that, im sure thats a verrrry rare occurrence though.

the dyno didnt break your transmissions.... unless for some reason it was not linked.. the dyno is actually easier on your trans then the road is

Sounds like when it's time to get me protuned (next year. Not sure when yet), I'll be going there when JR is in if that's the care he takes. I need my car to be reliable.

All the folks at Prime are top notch. I was there yesterday having lunch with Naven and chatting with Demetri. They are very professional, yet down to earth.

Agreed absolutely. Once I buy myself a house within the next 10 or so months and get settled and back to recuperating some $$, I will be doing and IAG short block with them. Looking for about 400-450whp
