That was some mild sarcasm on my part. It is useless to most people who have never messed with the older motors. Especially those who jumped on the newer Subaru bandwagon.

What I'm always floored by is when people have languagefail over the english prefix "PRE" which I as a lay person understand to mean before or prior to.

Yet somehow on regular basis people pop up asking about engines or problems specifically with 02's

At first I thought I was misunderstanding what PRE means

So then I looked it up and apparently pre-2002 still doesn't mean if you have an 02 come here with dumb questions.

I got an EJ20G in a 1999 Impreza and am looking for a decent intake tube or even a complete cold air intake setup?

THe apexi intake seems to be the most recommended if you truly have an ej20g and not an ej20k

Does anyone know if i can run 206 intake,ECU,wiring on a 205 longblock? may run a 20G 22 bottom end with forged internals. 206 is non AVCS with DBC. 208 is AVCS with DBW IIRC. with 205 being DBW and non AVCS, could i use those heads with 206 intake and ECU?

206 and 208 are also twin turbo engines. Wiring and ecu are a no go.

Apexi is a short ram and prone to heat soak, I made more power with the stock airbox. However, I do not have the stock intake piping.

Additionally, I had a lot of problems with my MAF getting dirty really fast with the Apexi, no issue with the stock airbox.

I picked up my 2nd early ej20g(both FCD, liberty rs), have been driving my old one for 12 years and it's still strong. I believe my old one was an 8.0:1 CR(liberty rs auto) and new one is a 8.5:1 CR(liberty rs5spd w/4.11fd) I just needed a 5 speed and found both ej20g/5speed for 1000$,it's really clean. 5speed is already in and now I'm swapping the motors. Ive been running a Link Plus standalone since 2001, ported the xhaust ports all the way to the stock turbo, which is a RHB52 and is slightly larger than a usdm 03wrx td05L. I can almost get historic plates on my car

didnt the liberty (legacy) 20g's have different heads than the impreza 20g's. As far as the hydraulic lifters. Its been something i been researching so i can get 20g heads for a 2.2L. I'd like the heads with the hydraulic buckets, not the seesaw things

The really early legacy ones had the rocker arms. Like 90-92 or so.

I've got a ej20g, turbo inlet is not under manifold, cross hatching where the alternator is got the ribbed rocker covers, single bolt coils, all indicators of a closed deck. I bought the car recently and was told it was a 93 type ra reshelled into a impreza as the prev owner crashed the ra. oil cap says its a 93 too. I'm wondering if the internals are forged and how much power i can get out of the stock bottom end. was planning on getting shimless heads for it not sure on which exactly and possibly a higher flowing manifold. I will be using a standalone ecu like a link or haltech.
