Default 05 STI electrical problem please help

I have a 05 STI and when I connect the battery I get no power to anything but if I run a cable from my positive battery terminal to my alternator pos I get inside cabin power and headlights but no starter power. Does anyone know what this could be? I did realize the fuse box under the hood looks to be missing a fuse where the two studs stick up on the lower right hand side of box. Does anyone have a pic of sti fuse box so I can compare? Also what should I do about the starter. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

okay so my car was a theft recover car and I dont think the key I have has the chip in it so would that make my starter and fuel pump not work? Im pretty sure that may be my problem but would love some feedback from anyone who has had this problem or knows the solution.

There should be an 80A fuse where those studs are in the fuse box. That is a main fuse, nothing will work without it. Replace that fuse and see what happens.
If you don't have the proper key you will need to get one from a dealer matched to the VIN, you will have to prove ownership to get it.

Must be the key it's not the one with a chip so I guess since it's an 05 it's in immobilizer causing the starter and fuel pump to not work..still doesn't make sense about the blinker and daytime running lights and tail lights not working but the brake and head lights do work..not sure why I checked all fuses and relays so I'm kinda lost on those problems

I suggest you remove the battery connections and clean the connections using a battery post cleaning brush. Also check all the fuses under the hood using a test light to make sure both sides of the fuse has power. Many people have mistaked a bad fuse for a good one by just looking at it.

Havent thought of checking the fuses like that I will give that a try in the morning and post the results of my test. Does anyone know what all the immobilizer cuts power to?

Havent been able to find what all the immobilizer cuts power to can anyone help me so I know what I cant get power to until I get the key with a chip in it which I ordered already. I just need to know what power gets cut so I know everything else is getting power because Im not sure about this immobilizer situation I have never owned a subby with one before. I did clean the battery terminal today and still no blinkers or tail light but do have brake lights. I cant find my light tester so I guess Im going to have to buy a new one. Anyway if someone can fill me in on some info with the immobizler it would really help me out.

Have you replaced the missing main fuse yet? If you haven't nothing is going to work regardless of whether you have the proper key or not. AFAIK the engine will still crank without the immobilizer, it just won't start.

Ya the main fuse is a 100 amp on a STI and Its fine I checked it and that got my power to the headlights interior lights and brake lights working but the starter, fuel pump, blinkers, and tail lights are not working. I checked those fuses and they werent blown just havent had a test light to check them like you stated above.

I think my nuetral safety switch and the other sensor on the tranny not sure what it is I need to look it up but they are not connected because I have a built 5 speed in this sti and I think the wiring harness may be different but im not sure I will have to research that or find someone who has done a 5 speed swap in a sti. I have put a new low mileage stock 2.5L in, built 5 speed tranny, rear end, axles, hubs, struts, clutch, everything to make the 5 speed work except for the sensors so that may be my problem with the starter but not sure about the fuel pump, blinkers, and tail lights yet.

I think you are going to find out that you missed a blown fuse in the main panel under the hood.

Okay so I figured out im missing all kind of electrcal parts under my dash near the fuse box. The blinkers were missing the relay so I had one plugged it in and they work fine now. The anti theft security box was missing on that side also so I had one from my wrx plugged it in and now the door chime works. However there is lots of wire harnesses that are still missing whatever connects to them. Let me snap a pic so I can show you.

After seeing that last picture you would be wise in purchasing at least the factory wiring manual. It will show the connector details. You can get the info on CD disks for a low price on Ebay.

Wow, that's quite a mess.

I'd need to go home and look at my car to figure this out...

I think those three dangling white/grey ones that are hanging to the left of the last picture below the fuse box are the plugs for the switches that are usually on the STi there including Fogs (if installed), HID leveler, and IC sprayer. I wouldn't worry about those yet.

Is the steering wheel installed? Is the column harness connected with the cruise control, horn and airbag connectors?

All Airbag stuff is yellow FYI.

Also, have you looked to see if the fuse box is all plugged in?

Is the cluster installed? Are the green cluster plugs (3 of them) present?

Sorry for the 10,000 questions, but I'm trying to get a feel for what is present after this theft.

That top picture looks like those are the Radio illumination plugs (white) and the cigarette lighter plugs. What makes me think this is their proximity to that area (center console) and the fact that the black plug has very large prongs which in usually indicative of high amperage circuits like that on the cigarette socket.

I don't have any FSM in front of me, just my memory and the parts catalog at opposedforces.com .

OK, by my count, this has 7 "pole" as Subaru calls it. (7 pins or terminals) If this is true (are there 7 wires going into it?), then there is only one connector in the interior that has 7 poles and that is "B52" that goes to "Fuse & relay box (F/B)"

Just a guess. But this looks grey and the manual has it as white.
