Calling all Legacy Turbo owners
Hey, I haven't been on this board in a while, but I just picked up a legacy turbo 5spd about a month ago, and I'm loving it so far.
Just wanted to see what you guys have found going wrong with them and such. Also where have you tapped in a boost guage, my current location is NOT working too well. Thanks in advance Gary

I T'd mine into the BOV sense line between inlet manifold (post intercooler) & BOV.....seems to work ok..

Just had mine for 2 wks. Turbo and engine going strong and extrememly quiet even with 143K mile. P/S and sunroof have minor leaks. Sway bar bushings cracking. Car always starts with less than 2 cranks. Brakes are very good and have plenty of life left. Shocks don't look like they have been replaced but they don't need to be replaced in fact. Subaru shifter, although with reasonably short throws, is very rubbery. Going from a Integra shifter (1988) to this is a torture. Honda and Toyota make some of the best shifting mechanism around, if you order an automatic you ought to be spanked. The lightning fast downshifting and upshifting experience will be missed. However, with the torque cuve of the Turbo Legacy it doesn't really need a downshift. Subaru's heat work really quick, I am amazed, although the climate control design is really bad(only recircualte with MAX A/C). Wind noise problem from driver window is annoying. Will consider a set of Dunlop SP 9000 or BStone S-02.

Had mine for about a month, 94 wagon
boost gague, the best place to tap is on the map sensor line, thats where the computer figures out manifold press so thats where i decided to look, and it works great. the map sensor if mounted on the shock tower of the drivers front shock, facing the front of the car. there is a vacume line running right to it, t in there somewhere between the sensor and the manifold. my car had 60k on it, and it had a lot wrong with it. bad CPC solinoid, bad water temp sensor, bad cam position sensor, and bad idel air controller motor. the car seem sto run well now, though the auto seems to hunt for gears under light pedel, like 1/4 throttle or so. also i wondering if anyone else has this problem, i hear a light tinging sound under light acceleration, like 5 psi in the manifold, and 1/4 throttle, it sounds kind of like what the car sounds like when its off and the heat shields start ticking, the air fuel ratio is solidly in the green and the EGT seems stable at around eleven hndred. the sound goes away under full acceleration. though the power seems a little lumpy. it really sound like very light detonation, but i don't think it is as he air fuel and EGT wouldn't lead me in that direction, any one else??? a little help please. i'm also looking to know what peolple are running for EGTs, and for vacume at idel, as well as boost curves. mine seems to run 6 psi in first, like 8 in second, and then like high9s the rest of the way up, or if you hammer on it, and the auto downshifts into power mode, then it seem to run high9s as well. i'm sure my gague is right, and you can feel the car get a lot faster when the boost goes up. thanks for any feed back jon |

My 94 wagon is also tight as a drum. I get excessive wind noise when the sun roof is retracted. Not much road noise though.

DealerXing: I also have an integra (GSR), and after switching to STi's shifter assembly in my '92 turbo the integra feels like its too long I also wanted to point out that on the sunroof all you probably need is to get some silicone from the local car shop and re-caulk under the metal rails (after scraping all the crap out you can). Living in Seattle that was the first thing I needed to fix on mine

Shorter throws on shifter can be tiring sometimes in traffic, as more effort is need to switch gear although with less travel. Precision is the key to Honda's shifter success I guess, despite the longer throws compared to Subaru's short shifter.
I still don't get the idea of bending the window frame. I am not sure what to bend. |
