Question Modded Subies in Vancouver
How badly do the Police in the area harrass you guys with modded subarus? I am planning on coming out this summer and Jsut checking to see what to expect. I am not riced out, but I have some CF lowered exhaust no cats etc on a RS-T

well like anywhere I guess it really depends on the person that your dealing with. For example cars with obvious mods like myself who are kitted, lowered, cf hood and wing, and obvious performance mods draw a fair bit of attention. I had a cop follow me yesturday for about 10 min... I was in traffic and pulled up to a light about 4 cars back with a cop next to me in the right lane. Of course he immediately starts watching me like a hawk and rolls down his window to listen. So I just drive like normal with traffic and shift as low as possible trying to prevent my exhaust and BOV from being too loud and he paces me next to me for quite some time until we get to a hill and I have to gear down so my exhaust get's noticably louder and of course he then pulls in behind me and just stays there only now he's on his radio... so I'm thinking great he is going to pull me over and be an ass because I have a modified car. But thankfully he just kept following me and I just kept with traffic and did about 5-10 over the speed limit until he got bored and went around me flipped on his lights and sirens and took off like a bat out of hell weaving in and out of traffic.... something obviously more interesting than me. So I would rate him as a good cop that isn't just going to pull you over because of your car, but it still draws there attention. Most are fine as long as you drive normally. Just my 0.02.

I got pulled over for going 55 on a 50 zone ... he let me go with a warning... but that was just weird
then there's this cop who stopped me late at night coz one of my headlights was off... I told him that its just the loose wiring... and showed him that if I turned the lights off and on again, they would light up fine.... feeling unsatisfied he told me to get out and called me drunk (or high)... he said I've been drinking and smoking weed... I was like... ya right... I've never even drunk beer ... I had to do the drunk ppl test ... like walking on a straight line... pointing at the stars and say stars... pointing at the rocks and say rocks... on and on and on and on.... the next day I went to Burnaby RCMP near deer lake and reported that officer for being racist and irrelevant a week after I got a letter of apology from BBY RCMP.... but I'm still mad at that cop.... |

I bet he is....
moral of the story: whenever you see a cop on the street, turn right away...avoid those ppl as much as you can.... esp if you're young and asian |

Guess I'm lucky then:
I've gone through so many road checks throughout the year -- never been pulled over in my wrx, but in my tercel once this year. If a cop pulls you over -- just be courteous and respect that it's their job to do such things -- be understanding cooperative and things should go smoothly. Or maybe i'm just lucky (*knocks on wood). |

HappyD, I think it is your big muscles, the coppers are scared to have to take you down for simple vehicle infractions, they'd rather save the busted jaw for when they take down a big drug dealer or something.
But yeah, politeness goes miles. |
