![]() I'm trying to decide what bearing to use for my new build on a +2mm ej25. Are the king pMaxKote bearings that much better? They are almost double the price of the regular king xpg bearings but if they will help prevent a spun bearing I'm ok with the price. Does anyone have experiance with these?

![]() I was also debating on getting those bearings. They seem worth it. But the old ones did great on my old build. Trying new parts can be a little risky. So I might personally stay with the tried and true since they worked fine.

![]() Marketing says "15% - 30% greater load capacity than traditional bearings" and this metric has nothing to do with longevity. If you are trying to make 900WHP, maybe go with these, but normal/tested/known bearings are fine. Plus this is a new/proprietary thing for them and I'm shy to try something unknown. I'm making 400 for over 100k on my built motor on some Kmart bearings....I'm of the opinion that a solid build is more a part of your right foot than the components used.

![]() While I can't speak too much on the longevity, I built an EJ257 with these recently, they looked great, and of course high quality as King's products always are. Great fit and finish.

![]() I am probably going back to oem bearings honestly. I was thinking about it a few year back. Jr tuned my stock engine to 512whp and the bearings looked great more then i can say about the ringlands though on piston nunber 2.
We also made 525whp and 650whp on the king race bearings with stdx size on mains and rods and acl (std mains stdx rods) bearings previous. Both didnt look great after.. however the build i did with the kings in those clearances looked the best with some slight wear marks afterwards though i also had a few detonation events. Due to injector sealing issues and another issue with a ecu pinout connection. That i repaired using i wire parts. Then had a fuel pressure issue due to over running the regualtor at 42psia. So i cant really blame the bearings. In fact considering the events and a few lean situations my engine build that i personally built took a beating and handled it well. If you can get OEM in the sizes you need to hit your clearance then go for it. |
