Default JDM EJ255 vs USDM EJ255

hey guys,

I've got a JDM STI EJ255 from a forester, i've been searching around like crazy but couldn't figure out anything solid about the differences between the STI JDM EJ255 VS USDM EJ255.

what are the differences between the shortblocks?
compression ratios?
pistons?
valves?
oilpans?

honestly, anything solid would be helpful.

thanks guys!

Honest answer. Nothing special. Same longblock as you would find in the US 04-05 FXT. It will also die the same way. Not a miracle motor.

Look at the head stamp. Does it read B25?

Uhm, are you sure? Even tho they’re labeled as “sti” you’re saying they’ve got the same long block as an FXT?

What year Forester sti ej255 engine? Dual AVCS or single? Red intake manifold or black plastic?

Subaru likes to just use the same engine across the board. Like say when Subaru first came out with the JDM SG forester STi, 2004/2005, that longblock for the USA was on all 2005 Baja XT, Forester XT, Legacy GT, Outback XT, Impreza WRX STI.

If you wanted a REAL WRX STI engine, you get the EJ207. IF you wanted to build a particular engine setup, choose whatever block/crank setup and turbo size for your power goal. There is NO REAL SPECIAL engine. They all die the same. Rod knock, seize pistons in bore, ring land, piston skirt wear, oil from breathers.

The E25 heads from what i can recall, came on USDM 2010-2012 Legacy GT, with the low mount turbo. That's a DUAL AVCS engine.

it's a 2005 Forester STI red intake from factory, 16 valve AVCS, From what I've seen it's an E25 block, honestly I'm just trying to see if they've forged the internals of the jdm ej255.

You should take it apart. Upload a video looking around the motor. Subaru hasn't put any forged pistons in any ej257/ej255. They tried to with the S209, but decided to go back with cast.

But if it is an jdm 05 motor, that longblock is no different than a USDM 05 FXT. Should be B25 heads, VF39,
