question:

is the intake(AVCS) oil seal the one with the larger inner diameter?

AVCS is the larger ID.

if you buy a new oil pickup tube (strainer i think they call it) it comes with a small gasket on it, do you still use the larger gasket provided in this kit along with the one that is already installed on the brand new oil pickup?

Thread came in handy. I just organized everything in individual zip lock bags. There's one part you didn't mention in the small parts bag. It's the caps with the green insides with a spring wrapped inside the cap. What are they?

bump, if you were doing a hybrid swap (04 WRX), would it be better get the 2.0l gasket kit and get the 2.5 STi HG's?

I just recently finished a hybrid swap on an 02 WRX. Not saying that it's "better", but what I did was to get the STi gasket kit (10105AA590) and supplement it with the following parts:

13270AA162 - Rocker Cover Gasket
13272AA094 - Rocker Cover Gasket
13293AA051 - (4x) Rocker Cover Gaskets (spark plug openings)

Also, because you'll need to replace your camshaft seals:
806732160 - (4x) Cam Seal

It was extra important for me to get the STi gasket kit, as I replaced the pistons with forged JEs while doing the build. I wanted to make sure I had all the parts I could need. However, I didn't actually break the block open, so I still have a pile of unused parts from that STi gasket kit.

Great work on this information. I just wanted to let everyone know that line 44 in the list has a small error, but it's big enough to get someone the wrong part. The part number should be 806932030. It's just one digit off

Actually the 806932040 / o ring-32.0x1.9 part number and Subaru description match but it appears to be part of a Legacy oil cooler.

My local Subaru dealership looked up the orange o-ring that goes between the block halves for me today and gave me the 806932030 part number. I ordered two and will update when I get them.

I just got this gasket set and it appears it has the orange o-ring that goes between the block halves, which is 806932030, as mentioned above, but it does not include 806932040, even though the parts list has this number as being supposedly included in the set..

Here are some pics I've been taking as I reassemble my engine since the ones above are dead. Some pics have the new gasket on the part and an old one next to it for clarity.

It appears that the STI, 02-05 WRX, EJ22t's and the 06+ WRX have different oil coolers (not sure which ones are the same among those though).

My oil cooler is in 2 parts. The teardown thread by reddevil has an oil cooler in 1 part. That's where the blue o-ring goes.

Wrist pin access hole gaskets:

Access port o-ring:

Oil pump main gasket and rubber wedges:

Top section of oil cooler:

Both pieces of oil cooler:

The blue o-ring (goes between oil cooler halves):

If I'm doing a standard EJ257 short block swap with 2.0 WRX heads, should I get the STi master engine gasket set, or the WRX master engine gasket set? Can't find a straight answer to this...

I finished my build about 2 years ago now, but my list says that I used the STi gasket kit (10105AA590), plus separately purchased WRX rocker cover gaskets (4x 13293AA051). That gasket kit comes with a bunch of stuff that you won't use if you aren't cracking open the short block, but at the time I remember it being a lot cheaper than buying the necessary pieces separately.

Looks like my WRX overhaul kit didn't come with injectors orings and insulators... pissed about that.
