HELP HELP HELP Need help diagnosing a clutch problem....
I need some help to try and figure out what happened to my clutch. I was driving home tonight after getting the car washed. The car was behaving normally, no issue shifting, no sounds that were out of the ordinary. Suddenly, when shifting from second to third the clutch pedal went straight to the floor. No pressure and the pedal did not return. I got the car off the road and tried to diagnopse the problem.
Here are the symptoms: No pressure when pressing on the clutch. The pedal stays down. You can pull it back up by hand This would seem to say the system is low/out of fluid. However, the fluid level is at the max. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be.

If there is fluid in the system I would question the clutch master or clutch slave cyclinder.

update
As it turned out, the slave went sometime in the past. This caused the master cylinder to work harder and eventually fail, but not before the clutch plate and flywheel went.
Me being the eternal cynic, when the mechanic told me all that needed to be replaced, I thought the guy was trying to rip me off. So I asked to see all the old parts before he put in the new ones. He was right. Now I have a brand new clutch and can see the difference. |
