Cabin Air Filter
I was told by my dealer that the US version of the 2012 Impreza doesn't have a cabin air filter but I see it listed in the manual and it doesn't exclude the US version(like some other features). Has anyone verified that the US version has a cabin air filter? If it does have one, does anyone who is making good cabin air filters nowadays?
The manual says replace every 7,500 miles so I am about 28K miles overdue if it does have one. |

Yes we do have one, I just changed mine last week. The OEM one is good enough for most but I got a WIX 24030 from Amazon. Another member on here compared a couple different filters and the WIX looked a lot more substantial than OEM.

Checked out the local inventory at Advance Auto Supply, AutoZone, and PepBoys. None carry the CAF in stock, surprising because this area has a lot of Subies around. Advance offered to order one for $30 plus an additional $6 to ship it to the store. No thanks. Looks like I'll be ordering my filter online.

I got my car in Feb '12 and replaced it in May. I'll be replacing it again around May and each year in May after everything buds because with so many pine trees here in North Carolina, the pollen is brutal. I've had allergies my entire life so I'm changing it every 12 months like the book says

cabin air filter review
by request fyi dealer charges like $65 and up to change cabin air filter
Before allergy season picks up. bold statement here: So subaru cabin air filters are junk pulled my filter at 5k to take a look at it and I was shocked how cheap the filter element was. So I decided to do a comparison between the oem filter, the wix filter and the atp filter OEM MSRP 26.95 Online Price 20.21 rockauto prices: ATP Part # CF194 12.18 or ATP Part # RA101 (carbon) 14.72 WIX Part # 24030 18.60 The subaru filter is like a 1 ply toilet paper. You can literally see thru the filter element it has maybe 2 layers. The atp filter has about 3 layers and is soft like a charmin toilet paper. The wix was just wow, not only was the filter constructed well but the filter element was robust, thick, and definitely higher quality than the oem and the atp. As the oem element is such rubbish I can see why it needs to be changed at 7.5k. The atp while an improvement on the oem filter could probably be run to 12k/1year. The wix element can definitely pull 12k/1year. As I have always run wix filters I am sure this will hold up well in dirty nyc traffic. I will still change them twice a year and they are definitely worth the price. If you have allergies and want something with ALOT more filtering power definitely get the wix. I of course spritzed it with some fabreze for that outdoor smell. OEM at 5k looks like thin cheap cotton swabs wix filter in the middle, atp filter on the far right oem filter at 8k on the left, oem filter at 5k on the right |

There is an importer in GB that buys stuff from the US, they have a procedure for imports, they all go into a big sealed building and get inspected by employees who when they find something nip it right there, this time it was black widows, they leave, close the door and pump it full of gas then leave it for a couple of weeks. Some of those containers are in transit for months so they have time to breed.
Now Australia on the other hand, nothing like finding a brown snake in your warm engine bay to make your day. |

Sorry if this has been answered already, but can anyone confirm the proper WIX Filter number for the 2012 Impreza Sport? Angelus911 said it was the WIX 24030, but when I visit http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004AHOBBS/ref=asc_df_B004AHOBBS2467007?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-95-94-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395097&creativeASIN=B004AHOBBS for this filter, it says it doesn't fit the 2012 Impreza. Is Amazon wrong (they've been wrong before!). Thanks guys for clearing this up for me!
