Thumbs up Kartboy "Hangman" exhaust hangers

Another sweet product from the Deadrick posse.

I got a set of four black "Hangman" hangers in the mail two days ago, so yesterday morning at 8:30, out of boredom, I put on my shoes and headed out for my car. Up on the jack it went (I did the left rear, since that made the most sense to me), I put on some goggles and gloves (highly recommended--messy and sharp under there), and went to work.

Realistically, this is a very simple mod to do. However the elbow grease required definitely, in my mind, raises this up from maybe a Super Easy mod to possibly a Near Intermediate level.

I followed the instructions posted on Scoobymods.com and everything was of course nicely laid-out by kastle and Peaty. There are four hangers to be replaced: midpipe, just forward of the muffler, and two in the very rear. The second one--near the front of the muffler--for me was by far the hardest to do. The angle makes it difficult to get any leverage, so it took forever for me to both get the OEM hanger *off* of the bottom mount, and to get the new one on there. I used a tube of white lithium grease to lube everything, but it still took some time, and a little coaxing with a skinny flatedge screwdriver.

It's a cheap mod though, adds a little visual appeal to the underside of the car (especially if you buy the red ones, but I wanted black), and of course stops all the swaying of the exhaust. The Deadricks have outdone themselves yet again, as if I expected any less.

Talking Stickers!

Ah yes, almost forgot!!!

Kartboy has new stickers now, that they mail with your product (along with, of course, a couple pieces of candy).

The one I got was silver, just a basic KARTBOY.com logo that's underlined, with a circle around the "K." (Not to be confused with the grocery store. ) It's an outside-application, the type where all the letters are separate. You press it on, with the backing attached, then peel off the backing.

I like it MUCH better than the old one I had, the black-background sticker with the blue writing, and like sparkly glitter. I took that one off, I liked the new one so much.

The glittery stickers don't come off nicely unless you have a straightblade. But that's hardly Kartboy's fault.

the kartboy hangars are awesome for keeping the muffler from jiggling back and forth. I have just two of them holding the muffler at the back and the exhaust system is all but immobile. They ARE harder to take off than the stock rubber ones, but hey, it's worth it!

If you spray the hangers with wd40 they slide on or off without any effort at all.

Well, white lithium is pretty slickery grease, that worked well enough. The issue was getting the hanger over the bottom mount in a couple locations... and the only reason for that being that the damned mount bars on my exhuast are totally rusted, and of course the lip on the end is twice the size as the hole it has to go through on the hanger, so it took a while.

No, that's not true. Even with WD40 in place, the kartboy hangers are so stiff they require a substantial amount of effort to get over the lip on the mount.

Thumbs up

Yes, these are definitely the muffler hangers of choice. And red looks quite nice on a black car.

I used a dish of detergenty water, and that seemed to do OK. If I had to do it again, definitely astroglide...

Well, I already had the lithium grease tube from before, I'd bought some for like $1 or so from Auto Zone. It was for my Kartboy short shifter actually, I think my installing/reinstalling a few times had eliminated most of the original grease.

Still creaks a little bit though. Ehh, not like I'm worried.

Great hangers. Love how the red ones look under the car...They hold up my beautiful HKS Carbon Fiber / Titanium exhaust. Easy to put on if you toss them in the oven for about 10 minutes before hand.

Very good product - used three of them today when I replaced my muffler section. I was a little worried about fighting them on, but I sprayed them with white lithium grease and they went on fine. I actually had a harder time getting the old hangers off, but found that channel-lock pliers work well (one jaw on the hanger and the other on the end of the mount).

Oh, and the Twizzler was good too. Thanks Kartboy.

The Kartboy hangers are very hard to remove. In one of our install days locally, one of the members had an OEM rear lip and we were installing the HKS CF-Ti exhaust system. We put on the Kartboy hangers and realized it didn't fit. Took us about 10 minutes to take it out using a pick. Didn't really damage it but still a pain in the butt. When you're putting them on, the edge is tapered and rounded so its no chore but going out, the edge is flat and tight.

That's weird. I made a mistake and put on all three KB hangers onto the mounts on the car, then realized (duh) that the shape of the mounts on the muffler wouldn't let you install it that way. I pulled off two of the KB hangers and they came right off easily. I put them onto the muffler itself then put the whole thing on. It must be the shape of the mounts on some mufflers that cause the problem.

I don't think so , but that's part of the reason why I love them because they are so tight... I would have pipes rattling around under my wagon without them!
