Default Nice to meet you all - subieNoob

Hello everyone my name is Ismael, i'm 32 Active Duty Army. I am a noob subaru owner,i am more experienced with Nissan, 240sx/350/370z.

I plan on building up my Impreza here in the next few months.
I've always wanted a Subaru, i love the older Legacy specifically.

I've owned 2 240SX, a Nissan Sentra R, 350z, wife had a 370z.I've had a few motorcycles, 01 R1, 06 R6, 17 R3, and 2 Thundercats, and a Ninja250.
Anyways I bought this car and did a lot of research, I plan on Doing a V7 Swap, with a 6speed,and brembos with a r180 diff.
This car has seen better days, i was scared driving it home and didn't get it over 50... Suspension is shot, brakes, rotors, tires are non existent, the tubing that connects to the intercooler is torn, and the turbo was definitely not activating. I could tell it previously had a FMI but it was reverted to stock. Came with Carbon Fiber hood and Fenders so i'll take a win there? ha.
I don't have any good pictures right now, its dark out, and not 100% sure how to post pictures currently.

Will do, I need to save up a little more. AT the moment I have about 5K saved. I want to think I can afford to do the transmission, differential, axles clutch, e brake, flywheel, brembos. The only part that gets me is if my stock wheels would fit, because if that's the case I'd drive it again with this setup. I need to look into it some more.
Ideally I want to start shopping at 7k.
The car itself is not driven because I don't want to beat it while it's already downish, I plan on trying to sell the motor trans and all the stock stuff to purchase newer pieces so keeping it sitting for myself seems like a better option than thrashing it while I still have means of other transportation.

I miss my Nissan days. My S14 was still the most fun car I ever had. Enjoy the Subaru. They have a lot to offer as well.

Welcome OP!
Yeah, i had an 89 Hatch and a 92 Coupe, the coupe was nothing but bad luck, did almost everything i wanted to it but paint it, and thats because the traction on it was so bad i never got it right. Normal day headed to work in CA, i barely hit a small bump at the top of the on ramp, snapped a front LCA and i told myself it was time to go, they used to call my coupe a death trap, its bitter sweet just to even talk about it.

Long over due! Picked this car up as a Birthday present to myself back in February 2020.
Can't wait to start digging into around July. Other than the Turbo timer, for a turbo that doesn't operate, it has CF hood and fenders and the battery has been relocated in the rear.

A bunch of parts coming in next week, getting excited.
I'll be working on it tomorrow, (tune up)going to try and get it ready atleast to pass inspection here in El Paso TX. Hope to atleast get it running -effectively- ha.
I need to do some digging and see if the turbo is toast, or if the stock inlet needs to be replaced - causing leak on a possible good turbo? Hoping just the inlet, but prepared for the worst.
Edit
Also found out the hard way.
Stock 15s DO NOTTTT clear Brembos with extended ARP studs and wheel spacers!

Did an oil change on it today and took the TMIC off. Plan on taking off the Turbo inlet next go around, it came with an aftermarket K&N air filter so i took that off to recharge it with stuff i had leftover from my 06 R6.

Found leaks everywhere, specifically rear main seal, small leak in the block. Found a small puddle in the rear while the car was jacked up, nothing while its been on all fours. There was a lot of loose bolts ill need to tighten when i tear off the front end of the motor near the radiator on the underside, some type of cover? Not 100% sure.

I have a question hopefully i can get some help with, I plan on going to the yard(tomorrow) to pick up a few items hopefully.
I know a lot of parts are interchangeable with WRX and STI and such, would i be able to find hardware (bolts and nuts) from any other models/yr? The front end of this car is held up by Zip ties... every single bumper fastener is a zip tie*, the grill, rad. support, its all zip ties thanks in advance thanks for reading.

Added: its a 2002 Impreza WRX Bugeye

I feel like i am going to wind up spending a lot of cash because of how compulsive obsessive i am with doing things right.
Parts i will replace/Need.
Front Bumper
Headlights
Fog lights- Doesn't have anything on there anyways.
Bash and Bar foam insert
Rad support
Fuse box
Weather strip near the top of the hood.

Took out the Turbo inlet today, no luck taking off the turbo there is a broken bolt on the passenger side that goes from front to rear, sent my wife to get me a grinder to see if i can make some magic happen.
Not sure what brand ill be replacing the inlet with, i think at the moment im going to go with a Perrin in black or red.

Very stressful job this was, Took a Drill, Grinder, and a hand saw to finally snap that exterior bolt off.
Now that everything is out i am uncertain if i want to reuse this turbo.
-Pros
It might be salvageable with the 20 dollar repair kit i purchased (does not include the blades and such, just seals and other small components)
-Cons
Waste of money, might not work and i don't plan to dig in to it until i receive my kit.
could use the money towards a known good working turbo.
I could have weakened the housing due to grinding the entire side bolt mount off.

*Edit I need a bunch of hoses for this thing, they are almost all worn out, and wasn't looking forward to swapping them until the new motor comes in, but i need to register it and get it to pass inspection.

Alrighty, some updates to my project.

-Headers/Up pipe/Flex pipe
Unbolted headers to find out its a one piece, no up pipe, flex pipe was already busted so i tugged on it a little and i was able to pull the top side out without effort, otherwise it appeared like i needed to hoist or bump the engine up some. Took it to a muffler shop and got a custom up pipe set up on it for now with a new flex pipe. 6 bolts under the car, very easy to uninstall and install.

- Turbo
Turns out the turbo on there is a VF30, not a TD04. I'm somewhat happy about this, but hopefully that doesn't mean i need to invest in a FP, and other stuff. <need to research the VF30>. I ordered a kit to repair the td04 but after i started cleaning up the turbo, i realized the turbo is in pretty good shape, no play(very minimal) on either side blades, just some build up that i had to clean up. Prepping it up for paint, just waiting for the wind to settle a bit.

- Wheels
I purchased a set of Avid 06 wheels for about 550 shipped(discount for inconvenience!) in HyperBlack (17x8 5x100), and found a good deal on a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx for 200, 50 bucks for new stems, balance and mount. Things are getting spicy. I recieved my kartboy rear brembo bracket adapters aswell, I'm going to be up early tomorrow trying to do my best with what i currently have, just waiting on UPS to find my brembos, they seem to have misplaced them or shipped them to the wrong address ._.
