So in essence it in fact does have some sort of purpose. I'm glad we agree. :-) I'm just saying because I put a perrin one on my car and swear the initial turn in improved. It was a cheap upgrade too. Worth a shot. Easy install. Looks cool.

The forester strut mounts are also rather close to the firewall. Ill look at the brz next time we get one in. They literally don't even touch the showroom floor. they are either reserved or just sell that fast.

Yep. You are not the only one.
Seat covers and weathertech mats are a help in keeping the interior together.

Heh, the only reason we still have one is that it's an automatic and everyone wants the manual.

This is the 4th time I've had issues with the seats in my Impreza. The airbag sensor in the passenger seat likes to "give up" on long trips as long as there's a passenger. It'll turn off the passenger airbag and throw an airbag code light on my dash saying the whole system is disabled. I've also had the cushions in the drivers seat replaced because the springs "imploded" on them, killing what support these seats used to have.

Now more than ever, I'm tempted to figure out how to do a WRX seat swap with the set that I've got sitting in my basement. One of my friends mentioned trying to get custom brackets built for the WRX seats that'll line up with my Impreza's mounting points.

This is a known issue, and there was a TSB about it. You can get a new sensor installed for no cost and it should take care of the issue.

Noob alert on my part. What's a TSB? Is there anything I need to tell my service adviser specifically to look up or something to show him this?

If the dealer looks up your VIN it should tell them theres an available recall. At least thats how they found the one I needed for the temperature sensor.

Dont you work at a dealership? lol

Default intermittent ipod (usb connection) drop outs...

so, recently, i've been having intermittent drop out issues* with my old ipod touch connected via USB to the Limited head unit. i need to try the obvious swapping of cables, but so far, resets of the ipod seem to help things momentarily (although i can't statistically claim this is really a fix given the intermittent nature of the problem), but they always come back.

* what i experience is the song will go silent for a split second (0.5-2 seconds) and then come back on...it might play fine for a few songs, and then it happens again. it is not repeatable for a given song (ie, it doesn't always happen at the same place in the song).

FWIW, this is an ipod touch, 3rd generation running iOS5.

i do need to dig up a different cable in the near future to check for that obvious possibility, but i thought i'd see if others have run into this problem.

Default Any good 64gb USB drives that work well for music?

hi all,

are any of you using large capacity (32 or preferably 64gb) USB drive with your Impreza? i had read previously, that some brands didn't seem to work.

while having an ipod is more convenient for syncing purposes, given some funkiness with my current set up (see my previous post), i was wondering of a cheaper alternative that would involve nesting folders in some convenient hierarchy to more easily access my music.*

*while playlists work well, going through artists and albums for 7500 albums is painfully slow.

i was thinking of constructing folders like with Alphabetical subsets

A-C
D-F, etc.

and then within those going to artists nested underneath for faster navigation.

My thoughts exactly! Though I get the feeling that it'll be more expensive/tougher to find someone willing to part with their brand-new seats.

LOL, I do! Guess I've got a quick trip down to service. Their response upon seeing me is usually "what'd you break this time?".

yikes! that's not what i was wanting to hear

this points to the fact that it might be an iOS issue, or worse (?), a media port issue (ie, not a headunit or USB cable issue)

i had read elsewhere that after iOS4, a lot of things broke with different head units on multiple manufacturers and cars.

sigh...i will definitely have to try the cable swap soon although i have less time to debug on weekdays since i have a short commute to the train station during which i usually listen to the radio...

i had thought bluetooth would solve the problem, but USB is more convenient and seems reliable in terms of staying always connecting and charging...

of course, this solution requires a lot of front end work in setting up the drive and it won't be easy to simply add new albums in some convenient way like it would be with and ipod. but boy, navigating through all the albums or artists on the ipod is very slow and tedious.

I tried your idea at first but since I had too many songs say in folder A-C. I would need to break it down and all my songs would be all over the place.

Since my brother is a DJ I used his way of organizing my songs. He created folders for all genre's of music.

80's, 90's, R&B, Reggae, Slow James, Hip-Hop & Rap, Alternative Rock, New Music and so on....

Keep in mind that I believe that you can only have 150 or 250 songs max for each folder. I don't know why but I discovered that along the way.

So if I had 251 songs in my 80's music folder I had to spit it to 80's(1) and 80's(2)

All songs are automatically put in alphabetical order.

Most of the time though, I just hit the Shuffle button twice to randomly pick songs from the entire Flash drive rather than the actual folder. It gives me some sort of variety of music.

The SanDisk SDCZ60-064G works flawlessly.

I don't think anyone has reported problems with a SanDisk drive of any capacity so far.

My driver's seat is starting to squeak more frequently now, to the point of being annoying when I'm sitting in it and the car isn't running. Next time I set up a service appt, I'll have them do the fix along with the remote start recall as well. Hopefully I'll have better luck than others getting it fixed

So I really want to get a 22mm rear sway bar on my car. Now, from what I understand, the adjustable Perrin 22mm is actually a 20mm when set to the setting farthest out on the arms. Would the linkages be able to reach this point or is there a length issue in that respect?

I think you would have to get the complete set with rsb, bushings, linkage, and endlinks to upgrade the rear. The stock linkage/endlinks will work up to the 19mm OEM rsb/bushings.
