Default CEL and blinking cruise. Although no code??

I filled the car up monday night, and while coming home from work on wednesday the CEL light came on along with the blinking cruise. I babied the car home, and started to look into it.

I've read through the threads and obviously without a code it could be anything. I checked the fuel cap, and it seemed ok. So I went down to autozone on saturday ( drove another car the rest of the week ), and had them hook up a scanner.

Problem is no codes came up. I've never used one myself so I don't know how knowledge the guy was. He did mention something about the scanner saying I didn't have the ignition on, so he may have been doing something wrong. He wasn't really allowing me to check it out myself so I left.

I pulled the neg batt terminal for a few seconds to clear the light. (yes, I know it won't clear the code). I'm hoping it's just the fuel cap was not on correctly. I filled the car up, and made sure the cap was ok.

Now it could have been me worried about the car but when I started it up at the gas station I may have turned the key back a second too soon and the car kind of stumbled a few times while starting and had an odd idle, but sounded normal after 5-7 seconds. Scared the **** out of me.

So I babied the car home with nothing else that seemed unusual. The only shop I let work on my car is 90 miles away.

Should I drive it around? I may go see some friends tonight, 120 miles r/t.

mods: dp, exhaust, ap, OTS stg2 map.

I'm very conservative when I drive, and rarely get the car in high boost.
