exactly. it sucks, but the 2013 guys know in their hearts they'd trade up to this if they could. the ///M3 guys complain about every new iteration departing from its "roots", but yet still buy it. Same thing here. Why do you think Subaru made the BRZ?

The truth is, a lot of us here don't track our cars every weekend, so for 80% of the driving we do around running errands, a little plush and comfort is welcome. Otherwise we'd all be driving swapped gc8s. If the STi has the great fit/finish like this looks, I'll get it over an S4 in a heartbeat.

In Australia and most of the world, Impreza was dropped with MY11. In the US it says Impreza above the STI badge.

Oops. I was wrong, then. I remember reading an article a year or two ago that they were dropping the Impreza name from the the WRX to differentiate them...

See above, they removed Impreza from the ROW cars. Also, in the US, they make two brochures, Impreza and a WRX/STI. Finally, to separate the trim levels in marketing, they make different commercials (Impreza jumping from one brochure to another vs Mirra drifting with the G's tennis ball).

It's not a STI, so no reason for cherry blossom red.

At first I'd agree, but I'm not so sure anymore... I'll wait to make a decision until I see a release version.

I would have to agree. Make it a true sports car..... I do think the overhang will change unless they are taking more from the BRZ, making it RWD, and not telling us cuz everyone would rage!!

but some would like it

I personally think it's beautiful and resembles the CTS-V coupe in the way the body lines slope upward as you move from the front to the back of the car. This seems like it would make it easy to make a good looking coupe version. While I doubt that they will do this because of the BRZ, we can always dream right. There is also a resemblence in the front fascia, grill, and the wheels. Definitely a beautiful concept and I can only hope that the production version will look half as nice. However, I would be weary buying this the first year it is in production with the new engine and the troubles with the 2008 model year. Overall, I think Subaru did a nice job.

maybe I am crazy but wouldnt all they would need to do is put the radiator at a slant to make room for the engine?

think v mount radiator like the old 7MGTE supra intercoolers, toyota made room in the fornt end by putting it at a slant. Couldn't they do something similar to a radiator?

All it takes to make it work is doing an unconventional set up for things to fit. Not everything has to be parallel and perfectly square or vertical to fit and work efficiently/effectively.

Kinda wish they would give back tuition (coast guard still has it suspended) assistance so i can get some prerquisite courses done for an engineering degree lol.

I think it's a fairly good looking car. Hard to tell from pictures alone.
What I think I might not like is what appears to be a very busy rear end.

I don't see how this concept resembles the CTS in the slightest, but I do like the lines.

Really, you can take any car and find another that is similar(other than super high end performance cars).

For me though, I just hope they finally have a coupe version!

Subaru has a coupe!!! It's called the BRZ! Just like how they won't give the BRZ a turbo or AWD, because then it would be too similar to the WRX/STi line. Why would they give the WRX a coupe?

No matter how many of you will "omgmindblownEffmeslidewayz" if they make a coupe wrx, you can keep it in your pants because the odds of them actually doing that are dreadful.

Have you ever taken a marketing class?! Because let me tell you, no matter how many Subaru fanboys we get, before anything else Subaru is a BUSINESS! As a business, their number one goal is putting out products that will sell successfully. So if they are going to have two seperate "performance" lines, like the BRZ and WRX, then both of those have to be distinct enough to sell and sell well. They are not going to take a feature that's exclusive to one and give it to the other because that has a chance to hinder sales.

So please people lets enjoy them each for what they are and leave it at that.

The front overhang is short, but now I can't help but notice how far forward the hood scoop is on the hood compared to earlier models. Perhaps the engine will sit further forward than before (gasp)? Who knows...

I'm eager to see the production version.

I just saw this car in person at the NY auto show, and it looks 1000x better in person compared to the photos.

It's really sharp.

Now, extend this look over to the Legacy/Outback line. Ditch that horrible Outback front end with the bad face lift look or make this with a hatchback bods too.
