Default My JDM STi Morimoto HID Projector Retrofit

Just wanted to throw up some pictures of my Morimoto retrofit I just finished. I've had the JDM STi lights for about 9 years now and finally got around to retrofitting them.

Instead of using the original projector bowl to mount the new projectors (like most have done), I opted to have some custom plates cut that allow them to be mounted directly to the bracket inside the headlight. This retains the stock adjustment, as well as making your horizontal alignment pretty much spot on. I also wanted to get the projector lens as far forward as possible. There were very minimal modifications that needed to be made to the stock headlight with this method.

I needed to clearance the stock bracket to allow the projector to sit further forward.

Before clearancing (and where I think most other retrofits sit):

And this is where the lens was after I got the projector as far forward as I could.

As with the other retrofits, the mount for the stock cut off shield still needed to be cut out.

The lens bracket was hitting the inside of the stock bracket, causing it to sit at an angle, so some of that had to be removed.

And finished. Now I just need to get some stuff to restore the headlight lenses.

Man that looks great!! Thanks for posting, I think its time for my old jdm headlights shine a lil better. I like your approach compare to others, do you know where i can get those custom brackets?

Get the 3M headlight restoration kit to refinish the lens.

Yes very nice job. I like how the black ring fills the void between the projector lense and chrome ring, diameter wise. Its black so you dont notice it, whereas with the TSX I had it was very apparent the lenses were 2.5 inch in a place made for a 3".

I had the brackets custom cut, but do have an extra set I would be willing to sell.

The car needs a full detail anyways, so I may see what the detailer can do with the lenses.

Thanks.

I'm glad I cut the shroud down and put it on. As simple as that part was, it made a huge difference.

Was that shroud part of the projector kit?
