Post I wish my car was this color...

Does anyone know the paintcode for that grayish/gunmetal colored Impreza up there? I love that color. I want to paint my Silverthorn sedan that color. How much would a full paint job like that cost??

quality paint jobs usually run around 3000CDN, so that's roughly 2000USD.

If I'm not mistaken, that is the gunmetal gray color, and I think that Pinoy's car is painted in that color. It will be hell on the wallet to get a good paint job, but then you won't have to worry about the crappy paint that you have now on your car. A good paint job like that will cost you about the same as a turbo set up.

OsakaGangsta----> The color code for the Top pic is 86F Steel Blue Mica. There is also a gunmetal color that Subaru has that is darker more towards charcoal. Looks similar to the Lexus IS300 Charcoal. Here is a pic of my car and a pic of the LEX that has a similar color to the one you want.

As for the paint job... It just depends on who you know. Mine was less than 2K with a new door, fender, shaved, blended rear splats, dings/dents removed, color matched interior, door jambs, trunk, and hood, with 3 coats of clear. My current paint job is 1000X better than factory. I guess the best way to describe it is...You cannot tell it is not the factory color.

I know this isn't exactly the same color, but i got my car recently repainted a dark metallic gray that looks really good in dimmer light, almost looks silver in the bright sunlight which these pictures were taken, but check them out and lemme know what you think. Enjoy

I would have loved to do Blue Mica Steel btw but the paint shop didn't have that and the color i picked was the closest thing i could get without going overboard on the price.

Looks good man. If you would have given them a color code, you could have painted your car any color you want. Never the less, It still looks good, only one I know of that is that color.

Pinoy, less than $2000 is incredible for all the work you had done. I take it you know someone that owns a bodyshop. Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury.

I like the darker charcoal look, as you mentioned. Kinda like this GTR in smoke gray pearl (I think it's called..)

edkwon, looks good. Is that a moonroof??

I take it he did like I did. My car was black before, and I decided to keep the sunroof black to give it the "moon roof look" Glad to see that it has that effect. MAYbe his car was black too.

Yeah, I have connection. But the work he does is worth so much more. They deal with Restorations and Custom work only. Many of the cars hes touched have graced the cover of Lowrider magazine. But they did me up by taking my car in. My friend just dropped off his 94 Z28 to be painted the 2001 Mercedes Silver. Completely stripped and patched up. Looks Brand spanking new, and once again, you cannot tell that it is not the original color unless you look at the firewall. Like you can see it with that big ass motor in there. Oh and price for this flawless paint job is $1350.00 out the door. With lifetime warranty against flaking and chipping. (obvously that doesn't include a rock falling off of the truck and hitting your car)

Pinoy - thank you very much, i really like the color too and yeah now it is pretty unique =) It looks good in the sun and it looks even better as the sun goes down

Albert - HAHAHAHA, actually the paint shop 'forgot' to paint the sunroof cause the guy who painted it thought it was a tempered glass tinted roof =) He was pretty embarrassed when i pointed out his mistake and will paint it tommorow at no extra charge. I didn't mind since i didn't point it out and he was trying to be careful, even if he did make a dumb mistake

My paint job was only $300 with a 3 year warranty and definitely not up to the quality of some of the top ones upon close inspection. Plus my paint job did not include the underhood, engine bay, inner trunk or door jambs, its entirely external and all the underhangs are painted as well. Still its a great job for the money and i'm getting the doorjambs painted later for another $150

MAN, This thread is what I've been thinking about the past couple of days! CRAZY!
I'm about to get a 2002 2.5RS in Aspen White. And knowing how crappy the factory paint is, I know I'm gonna have to repaint it in 3-4 years. I've decided on the Lexus IS300 dark charcoal pearl. That color is SWWEEEEETTT. I'm willing to spend up to $2500 for it.

Peace.
