![]() If i get the 2.5 RS it will not be the newest model. i like the older model better. Also if i get the 2.5 RS i am thinking about slappin on a turbo. Would this be cheaper than getting a WRX? and would the 2.5 RS be faster than the stock WRX?

![]() if you want fast and few headaches(which i can tell by your post) then buy the WRX, you will not like all the work you will have to do to the GC6 or GM6 to make it powerful. It's a long and twisted road you must walk, but with GREAT outcomes.

![]() An older turboed RS will be much faster than a WRX. We shot some video of a turboed MY98 RS running ~7 lbs. of boost in 5th gear pulling away from an MY02 WRX running 17.5 lbs. of boost in 4th gear. By the time you purchase an RS, turbo it, tune it and get it running smoothly, however, you'll have spent more than a WRX between parts and headaches.

![]() On the other hand, an RS is plenty fast in stock form. Heck, a 2.2 is plenty fast in stock form. If you want a go fast car with lots of upgrade potential, the 2.5 or the 2.2 are great starter platforms even without a turbo. Heck, I pride myself on beating WRXs with my 2.2 at events (autocross, rallycross, ice racing, etc.).
Of course I was passed a couple dozen times by WRXs when I was running the road course up at Louden last year. ![]() ![]() Trunkmonkey Racing | [email protected] | What is a Trunkmonkey? |

![]() I got a 2000 RS and it is pretty slow, picks up great from like 0-60 but after that its no good....but i still love it to DEATH!! It has great control/handling, RS is better for rallying then a REX is I think....but if you want a fast car I would suggest WRX all the way, I would love Turbo for my RS tho, I'm probably just going to end up Supachargin it...anybody know when Templar is gonna be done?

![]() If your going to end up putting a turbo on the RS then I would just get the WRX. The WRX is easily modded for gains here and there, but putting a turbo on a N/A car is a BIG job.
Both cars are great in their own right. |

![]() Ok, Ill play devils advocate and bite.
![]() They're both great rally cars It all depends on the driver. (although the RS has some good low end torque) Quote:

![]() Also if he wanted to, would you guys recommemd him to go ahead with the RS purchase and then do a wrx engine swap later on? I understand making an rs-t with the stock engine can possibly lead to big bills.

![]() I've an RS and would say get the WRX because it can modded to R/T Spec which is what I originally wanted(Sti) but my RS still rocks.

![]() It really depends on how you see yourself driving it. I sometimes wish I had the top end of a WRX, but I wouldn't trade my RS for the kind of driving I do most of the time. The biggest complaint I hear from people at meets is the lack of low end on their WRX's.
Remember, speed costs money. How fast do you want to go? |

![]() Anyway, to answer the question, it depends how much work and fiddling you want to have do. If you want a great turbo car right out of the box, get the WRX. |

![]() For the money your going to spend on a wrx Buy a GC8(best bodystyle) like 2000 will suit and Upgrade Internals and tranny put a nice header and ecu and slap a turbo on(6.5-7psi for daily driver)and injectors a few other things and your set Thats a good way to spend the same amount of money... As Compared to a new WRx and your going to SMOKE any Wrx that looks at you funny ..!!!

![]() if u plan on putting money into the car i say the 2.5 rs because it has a boxster engine(same as porshe) and it is fast as hell, if you have enough to put a turbo into this, ittl be a sweet ride!

![]() I reccomend you get a wrx. It seems that your fixed on "turbo". Also be prepared for higher insurance and more expensive gasoline. If those are not issues then by al means enjoy the wrx.

![]() If you want low end with a WRX, all you need is a good exhaust setup... no replacement for displacement, yada yada, but it's much better with a cat or two missing

![]() if youre certain you want turbo i would go with the wrx if you're not too mechanically able. don't assume an rs-t would be cheaper either.
