I remember people were hating on the 05-07 Legacies because the JDM cars had shorter bumpers. They said the US Legacies were an abomination because the bumpers protruded out too far due to US crash requirements. Good times...

History always repeats itself. People complained then and people complain now.
Meanwhile life goes on and Subaru keeps breaking sales records.

And that Honda is nowhere near as ****ed up looking as the WRX. Subaru is trolling that 10 year old Honda hard with their mad max no crap paint given version.

Subaru has never made a worse WRX design than this. Every other car looks better than this. That Civic posted above offends my eyes less than this monstrosity. Subaru has lost its way in my eyes.

Hyundai offers much less love/$ than Subaru. They don’t even offer a dog fence for the back FFS!

The WRX definitely has far too much diffuser area going on and the reflector wings don't help, but no paint is bringing attention to all of it.
That looks a lot better than the sedan, I'd actually swing past a dealership and have rather serious conversations if this came to the US with a manual.

I'm tied by NASIOC contractual obligation to purchase the Levorg if it came here.

I’m not getting another sedan, but I’d get a full blown Levorg STI in a heartbeat.

The Levorg to me, aesthetically, speaks entry class luxury alas Acura. Damn shame we got this abomination of a WRX. Bet the STi will not be an different.

Maybe the battery pack is located in that pouch of a rear bumper.

sure to spark some debate..

I give you the real WRX competitor.

Mazda 3 turbo

OR if I wanted to get really cheeky,

Mazda CX-30 Turbo

both come with 250 HP and a whopping 310 ft lbs of torque

Both are light years ahead of Subaru on interior and exterior design. Would wager both drive better, because mazda. Both come with AWD.

and since Subaru is saying the top trim of the WRX is a Craptastic CVT, they are both Autos.

^^^ rear suspension sucks on this generation of Mazda 3. Aesthetically internally and externally it is a very sharp looking car.

Mazda 3 uses torsion beam rear and the throttle mapping and handling is tuned for casual, daily commuter duties. It was a consideration for me, but every enthusiast reviewers says it's not an enthusiast car, although it's very nice. If I cared more bout performance I'd get the WRX GT and just call it a day. Is it ugly? Yes. Will it be fun to drive? If you thought the VA WRX was fun to drive then I know this one will be too.

You can remove the plug and fab up a stupid diffuser because racecar. Or just remove to race.

Chano how is the Mazda 3T more casual than your current car? It's your car with twice the power and no CVT. Isn't that a good thing?

Maybe it just a place to put your energy drink or vape pipe. Seem it could be like a picnic table.

Put some marks on it and it could be fish measuring device for the wilderness adventures.

Use it as a desk to draw pictures of all the birdies.

Use it as a place to cut logs for the campfire

Snow collection device which can be used to build up a wall of snow so you cannot get into your trunk.

All kinds of good uses for 4" of plastic sticking out like hemorrhoids

Maybe it is a usable step to access your roof top tent or mountain bike

If you drive on a dusty road, enough dirt will collect there to plant some nice ground cover.
