I'm not into machine face wheels at all. I like the design on those though.

Digging those gunmetal ones though. And the design looks like it would be easy to clean, which is always a selling point for me

Black wheels are not acceptable either, although my crosstrek had a set of the optional crosstrek STI wheels, which were black gloss. So I guess there are exceptions.

They make the machined ones in all black. I'm open to suggestions of non-3-piece wheels in 19x8.5 5x100 +35/+40 offset. Not as easy as one would think. Do you yield to my challenge?

And definitely do not suggest RPF1s, TE37s, or any other wack, played out choices, my guy.

Pretty much all STI wheels are acceptable to me. I just don't like their offset. So my design preferences lean towards what an OEM Subaru or STI wheel would look like in better size or offset.

Now it makes sense why you got a VB, you had a crosstrek !

I'll have time around 1230 central tomorrow(Thursday). Not too hard to find what retailer I work at. Ask for the firefighter. I'm genuinely curious.

Bottom line is there's a trend here with plastic that seems to be catching on. And Subaru is the trendsetter

No nitpicking. The only thing "similar" between the two is the amount of black plastic. Though I have no issue with the WRX's design, that Mustang one was designed better. Not oddball looking. You're trying to say this "trend setting" is a good thing. How is it good when it's making people dislike they way the car they would like to buy ugly to them?

I understand my mission sir

I'm a big fan of Konig flowformed wheels for their lightness, increased strength, and being relatively affordable. I always look for weight specs before I look at aesthetics.

Oh no, I'm definitely not saying that Subaru trendsetting with the extra cladding is a good thing. I'm not a big fan of cladding in general, unless it's on a crosstrek or whatever.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm in love with the cladding on my WRX (although I do like it overall aside from the 'not-so-pretty' back bumper).

I bought it because it drives great and it's one of the last remaining fun stick shifts out there at a reasonably affordable price. Also, I wanted to desperately get out of the crosstrek.... Not a bad car at all for what it is, but the mushy suspension, CVT, and lack of any type of joy from driving it, had me hating it 4 months after I bought it.

Agree, there is no way they found room back there for double wish-bone. Just look through the wheel well. Is there a strut? Strut=multi-link.

Peace,

Greg

The spy shots of the 2024 w/ Performance Pkg (or at least red Brembos) still has cladding. I have not heard of any change.

Would there be more sales if this was the design approach that they took on the wrx? (sedan, wagon, whatever, just focus on the bumper design, fender design, etc...)

Subaru knows how to make a good looking wrx, they just chose to make something that looks terrible.

looks more grown up, higher end, and actually deserving of MRSP.

You just reminded me that I'd swap to a Levorg bumper if I had a WRX.

Also HRE wheels aren't an expected wheel option for a Subaru. They look out of place. Do love me some HREs on other cars though.

I was just joking around; but I do appreciate the offer.
Subaru does what Subaru must do or what Subaru wants.
But, I have the same 2 comments I have been making:
- I'm not convinced with what they've done with FA24DIT in the VB WRX
- but, the paradox is that I'd still happily purchase a WRX Wagon (chassis code?) with the very same FA24DIT under its hood WITH the SPT because it's a very good looking and affordable sporty wagon.

More sales? Eh, sales are already good.

Less complaining? A bit.

Would I be more inclined to consider it (especially a wagon)? Yes!

If only they made a WRX wagon again, holy moly! Even a hatchback....

The new Impreza is now hatchback only; they should have made it sedan only (or even discontinue it), and give the WRX the hatchback only treatment.
After all, the Impreza hatchback is nearly identical to the Crosstrek, aside from a few inches of ground clearance.

I'd be fine with the Impreza being discontinued IF it meant getting a WRX wagon (or hatchback) instead.

quantity of sales seem okay, but would they sell quicker and not require massive discounts to move?

just stirring the pot, that's all. I'd love to see the wagon here, but I've pretty much moved on from Subaru, so I highly doubt I'd even consider it. But I would love to see it on the market so that maybe one of their competitors would consider bringing something similar to market (RS3 hatch).

I've always liked euro car stylings...

I wish APR made plug and play GT mirrors for the GC's

1st place GD at the short lived Rocky Mtn. Subaru Fest 2016, and Best Subaru at Street Tuner Mayhem same year, so someone must have liked them.

I don't disagree.
But, supposedly, the current WRX 6-speed transaxle is holding FA24DIT back to exactly 350 N.m. a.k.a. 258 ft-lbs. That's low; even for a 2.0L.
I'm not saying that's a Subaru-specific issue; other manufacturers like VW have been struggling with this, to some extent.
But, in the WRX, the issue is exacerbated by the usual AWD drivetrain losses; 258 ft-lbs to the crank doesn't leave us with that much to the wheels.
