I'm not saying that's a Subaru-specific issue; other manufacturers like VW have been struggling with this, to some extent.

But, in the WRX, the issue is exacerbated by the usual AWD drivetrain losses; 258 ft-lbs to the crank doesn't leave us with that much to the wheels.
People have been getting some really good power with modding the FA24 before transmission failure, but yeah it's definitely the biggest weakness in the drive-train, without a doubt.

The dealership I bought from is doing the same $4,500 below MSRP, but now they are doing an additional $1,000 for memorial Day weekend.

Not that anybody on this thread would actually buy one, but just in case:

Looks like residency requirements, was trying to get an OTD and have it shipped. Doesn't look like anyone near me in Florida has any deals.

Yeah, it's funny because I posted the link up on Facebook and everybody was calling the dealership. My salesman actually messaged me to change the Facebook post to specifically say New England residents only, LMFAOOOO! I didn't tell him I was going to post anything, so it was hysterical getting a message from him.

The deal is just too good to pass up, I wanted to share it with as many people as possible.

When I bought mine, they didn't give me a hard time for being in New York (although, they did mention that they don't often sell to New Yorkers), but I think they are now limiting it strictly to New England area residents. I think they are motivated by wanting you to bring the car in for service, and if you live far away, of course you won't go to them.

Very fair and understandable. I haven't been able to get anywhere close here at all; best I've gotten is basically MSRP offers. I thought I'd get a little more give, but I've only just started online inquiries, so we'll see what I end up with.

What part of the country are you in?

It's very regional when it comes to pricing on these for some reason. I hear people in Utah have a hard time getting a good deal on these and there's a lot less stock around, but for some reason over here in the Northeast, WRXs are plentiful, and pricing is a lot more competitive.

I do recommend you print out some screenshots from quirk work Subaru if you plan to going in person to negotiate. Always come prepared with lower prices, lol!

No advertised discounts in the NYC area for me but I am sure you can work something out.

When I lived in the city and wanted a good price, I would drive down as far south Jersey as I could, lot more competitive in Jersey, if you're looking to get one. I might be able to squeeze you in at QuickWorks, because you're a New Yorker like me and they sold to me already so maybe they would make an exception and you can get the big deal discounts.

I am looking at some time this fall but I am also intrigued with the brake pack spy shots and what additional packages/options the facelift may bring. On a related note, someone down the street from me just picked up a red one like yours. I may have to agree that this is the best color for this gen.

Rode by Subaru dealership in montrose, co. They had multiple wrx's on lot with big $500/month stickers on the windshields. It appears it is taking effort to move them off the lot.

On the contrary, the VB WRX is selling very well:

Tune? From who? COBB? They just take your money now. Sell shet. But dont support it. Potentially brick it later.

Don't know about the Crosstrek turbo sedan you speak of , never heard of this model , but the WRX is actually having record sales for the last couple of months, so there's that

Drunkman (Dman) tunes is what people highly recommend. If I was to go the route of tuning, I would definitely take it to a pro to get it tuned. I don't care how good an OTS tune is, there are so many variables at play (location altitude climate etc) that are not accounted for, unless you live near where they actually set it up.

I'm not sure if he released the FA24 support yet but Ron Watson tunes are fantastic too. It's incredible how well this engine responds to a simple pump gas tune.

Central Florida. Probably going out tomorrow to check out a dealer to see what they'll do in person.

That dealer tried ripping me off. They had “4500 off” WRX’s but offered me nearly 6k under kbb for my trade.

Wow, I had the opposite experience. They gave me more for my trade-in than any other dealer around, and I didn't even have to negotiate. Quite surprised on how easy it went. And they didn't try and sell me on extended warranties or Scotchgard protection or any other nonsense.

Multiple? They show two on their site. They have 87 cars out for the year. ALL models. 2 WRXs for the year. Small "municipality". You expecting them to sell better than a big city?

Shoot, we sell more than any of the dealerships in their district. And we're nowhere near mountains or snow(we get a day....ONE day a year typically).

They had a big $500/month sticker plastered across the windshield. They also had more than one with that tacky sticker. I don't know anything about that dealer or how good their sales are and I don't care. I was just pointing out that it appears they are putting effort into trying to move the new wrx.

Imagine just making **** up in an attempt to make a car that you are never even going to buy in the first just to try to make it look bad. That dealer has 2 VB in showing online and I didn't see any discounts advertised too. This thread is hilarious ***55357;***56838;.
