Default My dad is about to buy an XT. need some help figguring out what would be a good deal.

Alright, So my family is about to get an forester XT. Neither my dad or myself are known well for our hagling skills. So any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated as we don't wanna get overly screwed. None the less this is what he wants.

Automatic, Sunroof, Arm rest, Electronic rearview mirror.

oh and he wants the color white.

So what should we expect to pay? What would be a decient deal? I know prices chance according to demand, but what should we expect to pay and still get a good deal? Finally, what is invoice on a car like this? I hear invoice is usually the amount people try to shoot for when buying the car.

thanks for your help. Tomarrow at 9am I am gonna run off the the dealership and see what I can make happen.

-Neal

You can search for some specific numbers of what people are paying for XTs.

Here is a link to the invoice prices:

There is a lot of good information at:

White is good, but silver is best. The natural (anodized) aluminum-finished roof rails look much better on silver XTs than on any of the other colors. They don't look good at all on black or gold.

So I assume the battlewagon is going away? It's about time. Should be a good choice for your folks as long as they can stomach the premium fuel and slightly lower mpg.

White is a nice color. It would probably be my first choice. Yes, silver would be my second. Happy hunting at the dealer!

yeah, the wagon is really showing signs of its age unfortunally. Considering they never drive, its more of a "sports car" for my dad since he mabye drives once a week. Basically to go to a shoot or to take the dog to the dog beach. I think it will work out nicely. Unfortunally i guess white is a very "wanted" color locally so we might go with that crazy black with gold paint job, the Java black.

Holy high maintenance, DN! He's not too keen on the silver, is he? At least the black has some character with the gold schtuff and whatnot. Too bad they don't offer a monotone green. Now that's a sharp color!

I am not really worried about the price. My dad is gonna do some work for them so we get the car for about 10k after our trade in. Its just i don't wanna see all these random costs added in.
It seems like right now, its gonna be the premium with leather. The salesmen who is trying to find a car for us, was saying the car will come with a lot of stuff we arn't asking for. So thinking about it, I am kinda thinking to say "well besides x, y and z options. Anything else is gonna be free because we don't wanna pay for it" we will see. Thanks for the help guys.

btw: black might be high maintence, but when you work for an autowash company, its besically part of your job

Sweet deal with the trade-in if they can swing it. Forgot about the autowash thing; suppose that helps out quite a bit.
